Oh, totally. I want that too. I'm just saying that Musk can't do that as a surprise or a :brianr: to Bezos and Branson without getting himself and SpaceX into a heap of trouble.

    Woot!
    Scape?

You guys really have no idea on this one. When you're on a support contract like I am and you support pretty much everyone everywhere, it's a nightmare training new guys.
Example: " I need you to take 12 scba's to tv ops for starlink 4-26 and then do EOR monthlies at fsa1 and then do a ritpak pickup from ohf before lunch. Copy?

While they do fall in the category of Level A ppe, these suits are custom made per the customers request. If you need some let us know, you can rent them for the day but they come home with us ;). Wouldnt want anybody trying to reverse engineer them :burnrubber:

I thought you were the ones using them? Or do you rent them to NASA EGS?

Then tell them, please! He’s been saying it for years now in general terms but I’d like to see some filling in of the blanks. If B & B want to go up and land near where they launched as a rich people amusement ride, fine. I’m thinking it doesn’t have to be that way and Spacex already has crew certified capsules and more capable boosters. Show them they can get somewhere in the process. Up the ante. If they can also begin to stick landings with the payload on board that’s another bonus but also one that’s been mentioned(or at least the fast transfer of high value payloads to other places on earth rather than into orbit).

SpaceX can not land a falcon 9 with a payload. Elon has said several times that they barely have enough fuel to land the booster. To get enough fuel for that they cryogenically freeze the fuel so they can fit 8% more fuel.

Dragon capsule weighs 5tons, 2nd stage weighs another 4 tons, and if it is a fueled 2nd stage it weighs another 93 tons.

Then there are the grid fins. The heat coming out the back of those would likely cause problems for anything above them.

That's coming back from leo. I think @bagleboy is talking about higher than passenger jets but lower than the Karman line. Make the ballistic curve shallower.

This. Also with no need for Leo dragon itself needs no fuel saving yet more mass when landing takes so much less fuel that liftoff. I’m not saying it’s doable with the hardwares as is but that it’s not an absurd notion either. How much lighter would the capsule be alone w/no second stage fuel, vacuum Merlin or trunk section? Liftoff then throttle back or pulse the burns and cruise. There might even be enough weight savings to convert the trunk section to additional seating or cargo space.

Pointing out problems is the first step in solving them not the last. Both pessimism and optimism are needed to get anywhere.

That would seriously be awesome to make an F9 a SSO, but not orbit. I wonder what that acronym would be. Single stage to....?

Are you speaking English here, or some foreign space language. Just kidding. I'm sure it's quite frustrating trying to train new employees with all those abbreviated acronyms.
There are quite a few conversations here on this forum that is way over my head, but i do enjoy reading and trying to keep up. I had always hoped to be alive when some type of High Velocity space travel finally became a reality.

I have stock in ASTS (AST SPACEMOBILE) they are sending up a satellite on September 7 I believe and a SPACEX rocket. If the satellite works it will be able to connect the world to cell coverage. no more dead spots and provide coverage to everyone. My fingers are crossed for the launch.

SpaceX guys seem to think when Starship comes online they will also branch into being a cell service provider. And not long after that Elon will take them public, making the employees that have been taking stock options in lieu of retirement benefits, very rich.
