...also i just saw you have seat risers on your truck. you should be more concerned about those seat risers failing in an accident and someone getting seriously injured... then the appraiser noticing that you modified the seat mounting structure.

Call your insurance. Tell them you plan on disabling all safety equipment. See what they do and report back.

what are you even talking about now???

they'd probably drop you and try to figure out how they somehow wrote a policy for a 12 year old.

Those one-inch risers, driver seat only, is a risk I'm willing to take. That is also why I ensured they were properly installed with the correct bolts and torque. The issue with insurance, which I brought up, is risk to "others". I agree, no insurance company likes "modifications", but to disable or remove safety assist features that protect OTHER vehicles/drivers is my point. Glad you now understand.

no... i understood the point you were trying to make from the drop.

it doesn't make you right though

please call up your insurance company and ask to speak to someone in underwriting about potential rate increases based on the fact you have your PCS settings on minimum and your lane departure/bsm and park assist turned off and get back to us

Is there not a sensitivity setting for it like there is lane departure? I have had my 2020 for over 2 years now and only ever had this happen a couple of times when I was cut off. Sounds like something needs to be looked at.

Yes, but insurance has no control over weather or not you decide to use it. I supposed they could change the rate if you physically removed it from the vehicle, not if you just turn it off they can do nothing.

they do not have the time, money or resources to do something as big brother like this.

do you guys think like if a car is wrecked they immediately check the black boxes to see if you were speeding with the traction control off or something?

Odiously they don't have the resources to check every vehicle is in factory configuration, but if you went and told your insurance you remove safety features that got you discount when you made your policy they wouldn't have grounds to change it then? I'm genuinely asking as I don't know the answer.

there isn't even a department to handle a call like that, not that anyone would ever even do that. this is a stupid hypothetical situation.

the main call center people would be like "umm okay do you have a question about your premiums? no? okay well thanks for calling state farm"

I'm with the others that my 2018 has never acted funny. It works as intended. I have the sensitivity maxed out and it only has tried to prevent me from rear ending someone once, and I would have if it hadn't worked.

If lowering the sensitivity doesn't work take it to the dealer.

Also I still am not sure based on your post if it's the PCS or radar cruise control (which I absolutely love, except it hates staying in 6th gear on the highway. Considering a tune.)

    Just FYI:

"NerdWallet looked at car-safety discounts available from the 10 largest insurance companies. Only Liberty Mutual says it offers discounts for newer innovations, including:
    • Adaptive cruise control. This monitors traffic conditions and adjusts speed by controlling the throttle and brakes to keep the car a safe distance from the vehicle in front of it.

    • Lane-departure warning systems. These use cameras to track the car’s position and alert the driver if the vehicle drifts out of the lane.

    • Collision-avoidance systems. These use sensors to recognize when a collision may happen, such as the vehicle skidding or approaching the car ahead too quickly. The systems may apply the brakes or take other actions to protect the driver and passengers."
So if he's with Liberty Mutual he's correct, otherwise no discount for TSS. The things that do make a difference are anti-lock brakes, more air bags than the required frontal bags, DRLs (very small discount), electronic stability control, and automatic seat belts.

Mind citing your source? Not that I don't believe you, but it does help support your claim a little better.

It's Nerdwallet, but when I went back to get the link for you I noticed the article was several years old. Let me see if I can find something more current.

EDIT: Here is a more recent example: https://wallethub.com/edu/ci/car-insurance-discounts/11950

This was the original source but I noticed the article was from 2015. The Wallethub listing is more recent. https://www.nerdwallet.com/article/insurance/safety-features-car-insurance

I just happened to work for them. No one can tell if you've turned them off. No one is pulling data off a computer at copart. No one cares. He's wrong, end of story.

Damn, and I was almost certain USAA offered discounts. The list has definitely grown though, 5 major companies offer it (as of 1 year ago).

If your collision system is going off that frequently, you're driving too aggressively, or don't frequent hauling a heavy load...
