Hey guys, just tinted my tail lights for around $15. Do y’all think it looks good? Anyone done it with real tint before?

Good look. Wonder how tint will hold under bad weather hot or cold

Meh. Check night time visibility. Anything to make a motor vehicle less visible is a no for me.

It looks nice, but I, too, am not a fan of reducing brake light luminosity. It looks very faint in the daytime. You gonna do the third brake light?
May also be illegal in your state.

I’m gonna leave the 3rd one be just so it’s easier. PD where I live is usually pretty cool about it. It does still worry me, but I think it will be fine. Just afraid someone will rear end me and it’ll be my fault (south carolina)

I only did a quick Google search for SC smoke/tinted brake lights and didn't find anything expressly forbidding it. The only relevant info was for brake lamps, in SC Code, section 56-5-4730, “…A stop lamp shall be plainly visible and understandable from a distance of one hundred feet to the rear both during normal sunlight and at nighttime and a signal lamp or lamps indicating intention to turn shall be visible and understandable during daytime and nighttime from a distance of one hundred feet both to the front and rear...”
But, that wont stop the other driver from trying to blame you.
Edit: there is inclement weather to consider - fog, rain, etc …

It’s your vehicle to do as you please.

That said I’m in the not a fan group. Many times I’ve nearly rear ended someone because their tail lights are spray painted black so the light is barely visible. Yes I follow at a safe distance.

Chances are good if you get rear ended, the fault could become yours for visually imparing your brake lights.

I’m stuck in a bad upside down car loan. I’ll just go find someone who spray painted their tail lights and drive into them hard enough to total my car, problem solved.

    No.

I don’t put in effort and money to make my truck less safe, less visible, and less legal

DEPO makes smoked rear housings that are still visible.
If you’re looking for mods to do, you can do just about any. There’s millions. That truck is stock.
    You can add front axles

You should really tint your 3rd brake light, it’s the last touch your rear end needs. :)

Nope, not a fan. I used to work for an automotive lighting company. In fact, those tail lights came out of our factory in southern Illinois.
All tail lights are subject to a minimum light output and visibility at a specified distance. Whether or not you can find anything in the statute, technically, I'd say it's illegal.
