You may drop your RPMs but the rotational force needed to turn bigger tires negates any savings.

Hm interesting, thanks for the info. I was hoping to go with a 35 tire that is similar in weight as my 33 tire. Guess still no mpg savings?

You would be very hard pressed to find a 35 that is as light as a 33. My MTRs are one of the lightest 35s you can get and regeared I’m down 2mpg or so on average than stock gears and 33s.

That being said being in 1st gear, 4L with 5.29s is incredible on hills. It’s almost like a crawl gear, don’t have to touch the brakes on steep descents and goes up hills like nothing compared to stock gearing where I’m flooring it and barely making it.

I have 5.29s, 35s and Overland tune ( 91 octane ), would adding octane boost help my mpg in my case? Also does it make sense on going for a lighter gear oil? 85-140 currently ?

    All of them.
Maybe over in your area. I know Burlington gets some decent traffic. I live in Lancaster NH. The only traffic I see over here is if a moose is present or the leaf peepers are up.

I found that my MPGs we're better with Valvoline 80w-90 vs Lucas 5w-140, both non-synthetic. Lol but then I lifted the rear a bit and now the MPGs are down!

Right outside Burlington. Every time I travel, I remind myself it could be way worse here

I'll chime in a same that with the 5.29 Nitros and a recent YotaWerx (BlackHawk) tune the truck finally feels like it should. Added the gear lock to the tune too. Now I can actually wheel near or at redline without a shift when you least want it.

The shift lock out is the best part of the tune.

Its high on the list for sure. The shifing off road when you need the revs was enought to make me loose my mind. Its nice while towing too...

Don't you use the manual selector offroad? Or will it shift on its own at a certain rev?

Even with the manual mode, it can still shift to lower gears. For example, if you put it into S2, it can still drop to S1...

If it's only doing it when the revs are so low that it isn't transferring power that would be okay

It's more about the delay of the shift and the sudden change in revvs/power, that can create slippage. More control is always better.

No. 4 low, high rev. it shifts to next gear up and bogs the motor. Gear lock keeps it in the gear you have selected unless revs go crazy low, then it will down shift.

Just an update. Got a wheel alignment and my MPGs are back up! Personally experiencing better MPGs with 80w-90 vs 85w-140 dino.

I think you're reading into things too much bro. Alignments and gear oil aren't going to affect your mpg in a noticeable way. It's all about how much skinny pedal you're using and where you're driving.

For me it's all about the wind direction. That affects my mileage more than anything else.
