    pinstripes. lots of pinstripes.
Keep in mind it'll vary from vehicle to vehicle. Those were my numbers stock, and adjusted as I added armor, winch, camper shell, etc. It's a good starting point to figure yours out though.

Is anyone running a TRD pro with stock wheels (2021) and 255/85r16 and kept the mud flaps on?

I am was running 37f 35r but noticed the rear tires were wearing the little tits off in the center and not so much on the edge so I dropped down to 33r and it seems to be wearing the tits even.

Thanks for the response. I purchased and like them so far!

Total Stopping Distance = Reaction Distance (human variable) + Breaking Distance (mechanical variable). Reaction distance varies on the age, eyesight quality, geography, road conditions, distraction, intoxication level etc. The Breaking distance is a little more nuisance, as larger tires width provide more surface area (i.e. rubber) contact with the road which gives means more stopping traction when break is applied (helping you stop). But Larger Width also means larger diameter (higher rotational momentum going forward), thus more braking power is required to stop the vehicle especially if you have a heavy truck (F=MA) going at high speed or accelerating, pretty intuitive i presume. I run 285s on my '99 extended cab and I definitely notice further stopping distance than running the stock 265s. Giving you the physics background to consider but I didn't end up "calculating" any of that when I purchased the tire lol. The numbers should be listed on their specs either discount tire or tire rack is where I got the 209' from for my truck and they are E-load

thanks for responses guys, I always feel guilty making a fat purchase but my old M/Ts were obnoxiously loud and the cracks are growing in numbers each day. The Yokos G003 are slightly skinnier and taller than the other 285s that I looked at (i.e. STT MAX, KO2s, AT3s, Nittos) which I prefer. My local @Discount Tire had a good deal for a set of 4 so I couldn't resist

So, what is this 209' compared to? What distance? What tire? What size?

It's hard to judge what's good or bad when you have nothing to compare to.

    Just curious.

Same tire size 285/75/16 comparison btwn different manufactures. Not sure which assumptions they used in their calculations to get these numbers so I wouldn't rely on it grain for grain, just an average rule of thumb and squeezing the bang for your bucks. The human errors is the number one predictor for vehicle crashes anyway,

Yokohomas were 209' while both KO2s, STT MAXX were in the 180' to 190' ballpark. So about 20' extra stopping distance but I'm a careful driver on the road so that was the risk I was willing to trade for off-road performance and aggressive treads. Hope that helps!

Thank you! I wonder how other MT's compare.

I will say that after driving around with them for 20-25K miles, I don't really love them for daily driving. I think they're really good for an MT, but my Toyo AT3's make it like driving a luxury sedan by comparison. :D

Starting at 35F-35R. Not many miles on them yet. 255/85/16 on stock 16” PRO wheels and Fox Stage 4A from AccuTune with RTX leaf packs at stage 2 setting. 13” of full clearance under the truck now , versus 11.5” on my stock tires. Ride is nice , no wandering and they aren’t loud for a M/T tire ( imo ). Loud is very subjective person to person. I’ll post my off road review after my next trip. I do want to chalk test , but my gravel driveway shows a complete footprint on my garage floor atm. They look absolutely awesome , I’ll say that much for now. Tires rubbed in reverse at FULL LOCK on the clamps that hold my reservoirs, but don’t rub after I moved the clamp bolts to the top of the reservoirs and away from the tires.

Just a little update for those curious about longevity...

I developed a slow leak in my rear passenger tire. I thought it might be a rim leak, as I had been running around at 12 PSI on this beach where I get to screw around a few weeks ago.

As It turns out, it was the rim. I suddenly remembered hearing a nasty grinding noise briefly, but thought nothing of it once it stopped. It appears I had picked up a rock and it got wedged between the wheel and the brake caliper, then popped itself free. In doing so, it also punctured my wheel (picture below).

So, I moved it to spare duty for the time being and put the spare on. I decided to check tread depth and noted that I am still at about 75% tread all around. This is with approximately 25,000 miles of mostly highway, but plenty of off highway driving.

Based on this, I think one could easily get 50,000 miles out of these tires, with proper care. My plan is to hopefully get one more season out of them and then sell them while they still have a decent amount of tread on them.

Pretty damn good for an MT, IMO!

Nice! That's some awesome tire wear and a great report to reference. Pretty crazy about your rim getting punctured. I don't think I've ever even hear of that happening to someone.

It definitely wasn't what I was expecting to find out at discount tire, lol!

I thought I had seen something on here or maybe 4runners.com where something similar had happened, but led to a catastrophic failure of the wheel.

At this point, I'm pretty happy with the way the wheel held up, considering Black Rhino is kind of a budget option. The guys at my off-road shop told me I could either spend a lot of money and get some really nice off-roading wheels, or get some black rhinos because they're cheap, and "you won't feel so bad if you fuck one up and have to replace it". :D

Stock suspension 2022 Magnetic Gray Metallic Tacoma SR5 2WD. Just put some 265/75 R16 Yokohama Geolandar M/T G003's on and it changed the entire look of the truck. I was going to put some 255/85 R16's but didn't want to have to trim anything so I went with this set that are just under 32". Only other mods so far are the pro grill and rain deflectors. Waiting on the grill raptor lights, sport hood with scoop and rear bumper covers. Still debating on putting some wheel spacers to push the tires out to have them even with the fenders. Hope this helps those with stock suspensions that are trying to choose the right size tire.

Trail report on the Yokohama Geolandar MT, aired down to 20 psi and went up to Flagpole Knob via Union Spring rd. Them tires grip like a motherfucker.
    Enough said.
