You gotta go on those steep roads running off to either side of it. There're some pretty steep hill climbs if you keep an eye out. Lolo Pass itself is extremely tame unless it's covered in feet of snow.

I can speak for @Superhulk LB when I say we have both explored lolo a bunch and I feel the same as he does

Oh I agree, if you’re looking for a day of challenges there’s a million better places to go in our area. There just are actually two or three good hill climbs off of it.

lol I have to be honest I didn’t watch the video till you made your comment, the thumbnail looked like it was on the steepest one that would actually be pretty gnarly in those conditions. They were not. Those guys were fucking idiots using all the skinny pedal and no brains.

There must be a few roads I’ve missed. But I have dedicated quite some time to exploring lolo. I’ve gone mostly in the summer, so avoided a few spots that looked like a fire danger to explorer. Would love to find muddy hill climbs like the ones in the video

Heh I sold my TDI and swapped it for a R4P. Just in time, too .. diesel going from 3.50 to 6+ really made me wince.

    Can't say I'm not okay with getting 5c/mile :p

If i included the camper, it could lose 2000 lbs... 3000 i'd probably lose some important pieces.

How well does it take the weight? My new gig would be friendly for a full digital nomad lifestyle so I’m planning on upgrading my rtt to a pop up camper set up so I can work from it. My current strong leaning is a GFC/Super Pacific/etc because I’ve come way too close to flopping it too many times to want to add more weight than that up high, but I’ve seen some decent deals on used FWC Fleets come and go and that would be a much more comfy option esp for winter extended trips. I’ve been thinking of a budget build on a YJ anyway for the real technical stuff but I’m still leery about all that weight seeing as I sit near GVWR as it is.

Assuming you have proper suspension, I currently have IM FCPs with mediums in the rear but I’d upgrade to heavies with a camper

edit: FWC Swift, I meant the Swift. The tiniest one.

Hey y'all, things still alive here? Moved to the area about a year ago and finally looking for some Tacoma Pals. Getting ready to start modding and would love to get out, see what other folks have done, etc.

There hasn't been much organized activity here lately. Lots of great folks hang around in this thread though. I encourage anyone that is inclined to use this thread as a platform to reach out and see who is down to meet up.

I just recently realized that I have not yet organized a meet up this entire year. Time just flys by it seems. I should get on that

    Welcome aboard :)

ha. I've got a bit of a weird one, but it was what was available when I was buying a a few years ago. I used to do a lot of highway miles though and it gets decent mpg. =]

Camped out at badger lake on Friday night. Boy, it was windy! I forgot how rocky some of those roads are. Nothing too technical, but very bumpy.

On my way out I saw 3 third gens heading up just past Bonney meadows. Saturday just past noon. Was that any of you guys?
