Same. It's cool to see that but I'm good with just watching someone else do it rather than doing it myself.

I can't recall where but Rivian said they don't recommend going deeper than 39" in water as the truck would start floating. The doors are sealed better for water than most.

Thinking the same, pretty sure insurance wouldn’t cover that. In AZ there is the “Stupid Motorist Law” for the people who believe they can cross washes when they are running.

Would be looking for some long winch line for stranded boats and someone else’s truck or tractor… ;)

Dunno, find him mildly entertaining. If we all got along…these threads would be pretty boring. What is that old joke, Northerners hide away their crazies, and Southerners put them out on the front porch for everyone’s entertainment.

I hear ya, usually just skim, some of the stuff is pretty funny and has somewhat of a point. Know I say some incredibly stupid shit just to see what reaction I get. Pretty sure I drive a lot people nuts.

How does $4000.00 sound to ya?

That bed is pretty trick, Ute usefulness with traditional truck bed style. Rather have fold down bedsides than those silly multi function tailgates that some manufacturers are offering.

Don’t know about you, but I always wanted Personality hubcaps, rejecting mediocrity.

    Damn this thread still going?

Seems like there's so many problems with electric that won't be overcome for so long I'd be surprised if they ever gain the majority of vehicles.

    1. Cities are already stretched to their limit on available power. Charging cars is not like adding a refrigerator per household, it's like adding an entire AC unit, the main reason for the straining power grids during summers.

    2. Putting hundreds of millions of vehicles that weigh one to two thousand pounds more than their predecessors will then strain the infrastructure we drive on. Imagine the electric vehicle taxes that are coming to address that...

    3. There may never be a towing solution, making electric near impossible to reach 100% adoption.

By the time that electric could ever take over, there will be ample opportunity for another technology to step in. The future may not even be homogenous. Seems logical that a family might have a small electric car and an alternative fuel ICE vehicle as will. Somehow this seems like a dystopia to electric fanboys

If self driving vehicles ever become a main stream reality, subscriptions might be a better solution. Order a vehicle based on your needs. If you think about it, vehicles spend more time sitting than being used. Have an app where the [electric] vehicle comes picks you up your work commute, then drops you off. No need to worry about parking. Want to go camping or take a trip, order a [gas/hybrid] vehicle for that purpose. Not sure if that will fly since most people like owning and personalizing their vehicles. That might be changing though since it seems like majority of the younger generation could care less about vehicles or even getting their license.

Here in MA a bill was just passed saying that in 2035 all new vehicle sales need to be electric. We’re getting them forced on us wether you want it or not. Will people start hoarding gas vehicles in 2034 and store them away for later use?

That already exists minus the self driving part with Zip Car. It works fine for city people that only use a car occasionally and they can pick different cars for different needs.

Thanks, knew there were pilot programs out there. Nothing too main stream yet. It what companies like Uber and Lyft are striving for.

Imagine self driving vehicles working well to alleviate congestion for suburbanites.

That would just be an expanded taxi service. I would be a prime candidate since I wfh and could do that around the city. But I can't imagine the cost when I want to spend two months living on the road. This future would be a corporate wet dream and my nightmare.

Last I heard about this was the EU, and they have, of course, an exception for alternative fuels

Current EV adoption in America is under 5%. Infrastructure is being worked on to compensate for upcoming demand of EV's. I"m thinking 100% replacement of ICE car in the USA would be past the year 2100. So for those that don't want an EV because they guess might happen shouldn't buy one. Some just don't fit into their lifestyle. Others are scared and others have fossil fuel stocks.
