Took my 2017 in for tire rotation and free multi point inspection. 2 days later my AC is hissing and no longer cooling. Is this just a coincidence or is there any chance they may have messed something up during the process? I was not having any issues prior, going to take it back in but it's going to be my word vs theirs. Hopefully this isn't some shady dealer business and I can throw away my tin foil hat but I don't feel like a 5 year old truck should have AC issues.

Can you tell if there’s a leak?

Unfortunately I cannot tell without putting dye in it which I don't want to do. It looks like my year model uses a different refrigerant than the cheap stuff.

Probably just a coincidence, but no clue what their "multipoint inspection" consists of or what they actually did or didn't do. I wouldn't automatically assume they did something unless there's actual evidence they did something. I also wouldn't take it back to them under the assumption that it is their problem to fix. Take it back to them, or whoever you want, and have them check it out respectfully. Then go from there.

I understand you "don't feel like a 5 year old truck should have AC issues", but shit happens. It's always a possibility to have issues with mechanical parts, whether its 1 day old or 100 years old.

    Coincidence for sure.

It's a sealed gas system, a tech would have to intentionally let some of the gas out to make it stop working.

You likely have a leak from your condenser due to a rock or debris etc.

People blame us all the time for this stuff. At the very least word it and phase it nicely.

Very true I'll just take it back to them and go from there. I did find this interesting on the inspection report though that anything related to the AC was green but like you said, shit happens.

Okay thanks for the details, probably just unlucky then. Any chance you got a ballpark on condenser plus refrigerant refill?
