First post here, but I’ve been reading and searching here for weeks and have gone back and forth on tire size. Learned lots of info here and figured I would ask to be sure I am thinking this through correctly. I recently purchased a new Tacoma and ordered the eibach stage 1 lift to get 2.5 inches. I also have method racing 17x8.5 0 offset and a little over 4” backspacing. I’ve been looking at the Baja boss SL 285/70/17’s which show 48lbs, but a few people have told me pizza cutters would be better in mpg. I can’t find a tire lighter than that with an aggressive look. Am I thinking about this correctly? I mainly will use truck for fishing and camping and shouldn’t be doing any crazy rock climbing, which is why I was comfortable with standard load tire. Thanks in advance and sorry i posted in wrong spot.

The pizza cutters are less than .5” narrower IIRC?

The original jeeps used pizza cutters, as did all other Army trucks, etc.....

I wouldn’t think that would make much of a difference in mpg then. I was thinking it was more weight related, but haven’t been able to find definitive.

So I have Method Race Wheels and Nitto 285/70/17's. I have no issues and get around 17 MPG. I have a Wescott 3" lift as well.
