So I found out my well pump emergency repair should be good to go for the long run.

The Gates radiator hose I used is EPDM so it should be safe for the house water long term no worries about leaching chemicals, UV stable so I don't have to worry about the little bit of sun exposure it gets and it's rated for a working pressure of up to 75PSI which is 15 below my pump cut off.

$20 fixed it permanently I suppose and saved me the $400 emergency well pump repair call that probably would have put more of that crap plastic hose that was on it before.

I'm happy.

 

this weekend i took on the project of fitting an 18" dishwasher in a 15" cabinet space... some call me a magician, i generally go by electrician.

got a free 18" dishwasher from a customer. sorta an oddball size, so was a long shot when i started looking a few years ago.
was going to be tricky, as none of my cabinets are a standard size. going both ways off the sink, i've got 15", 36" lazy suzan units, and finally some 37" cabinets. so no easy ride on this one. cabinet layout also sucks, but that's a different problem for a different day


i went to the left. the plan? remove the 15" cabinet, then cut down the lazy suzan to fit.
cabinet came out simple enough, but turns out my sink "cabinet" is just a facia front panel with a a hacked in raised floor and toekick. wasn't expecting that.


ended up salvaging the removed cabinet side panel to make a sink panel side
then had to pull apart the lazy susan and 're-size' it to make everything fit.

cutting down the rotating assembly of the lazy susan, and marking out how to get the rear panel to re-wrap back around to the front


the entire assembly would not come out-- it was designed for the center rod to move through the space where the countertop existed, and i was NOT removing the entire counter for this! so in-place cutting was the only option.

believe it or not, did all cutting with an m18 hackzall. would've preferred a jigsaw, but it honestly wasn't likely to come out any cleaner.

lazy susan cut down. i knew it was going to reduce my space, wasn't expecting this much! but it is what it is...

other surprise was the hollow core door, one day i'll fill it in and stain/varnish it to match. i sent the cut-off to my sister, the paint store expert, to match the stain.


of course, no project is without it's surprises
all-metal undersink drains, starting to rot out, the 1 is held together and not leaking only by rust/corrosion. needed to re-pipe anyways to get the dishwasher drain in, good thing too, this was already on borrowed time!

all piped in and almost read to go! lots of crud in the old setup for some reason

i was all set, and celebrating not having any leaks, then everything plugs up and water starts backing up the drain...
i knocked some of the sediment somewhere loose re-piping it, it's clogged somewhere.

so after all that, NOW i need to call a plumber this week to roto rooter out the line...

 

Finished mudding and sanded the drywall around my new door. Came out better than I expected it to. The worst looking spot will get covered by tile so no big deal. Also hung my shades on the doors. Not bad for $40 a pop on Amazon.


All thats left is to prime the wall, and cut/nail up some trim, caulk it it and paint it. Wall will stay just primed for awhile as it makes no sense to paint it now when it'll all be repainted within a few months.

They have different sizes, if screwing into a steel door I recommend some self drilling screws.

 

I did the same thing more or less and was constantly dealing with the timer, leaking breaking etc. I probably went through 4 of them before I gave up and installed an actual sprinkler controller and valves, still feeding off of the outside hose bib though. Good luck with your install it looks great!

 

Ran the power cords to the Nest exterior cams. Not ideal in the Florida summer heat. I also installed an outlet in the garage ceiling so i can install a wall mounted osculating fan. Trying to figure our what size and brand to use. Looking for a 18"-20". Recommendations welcome

Plus getting attic stairs installed this week.

Encapsulating the windows, wrapping them in aluminum, so we don’t have to paint them anymore.

If you get to pick you ladder ( and opening), do yourself a favor and get this one....huge opening, and very stable. you could walk up it like a staircase
