Picked up this egg shape by Murdey Surfboards out of Oregon yesterday. Been looking for a board that’ll fit in the back of the truck & be a good wave catcher in smallish summer conditions up here. Haven’t ridden to many eggy shapes, anyone have recommendations for a quad or 2 +1 fin set up they like on these? FFAECC63-E672-433F-90F8-E97F3BFFA84E.jpg

What do ya'll do to stay in surfing shape? Recently became a dad and haven't been able to go out as frequent as before. Would like to try and do whatever I can on land to keep up some sort of conditioning

Download surf strength coach app. Cris has some awesome follow along workouts for at home, gym, body weight, or with equipment.

Also get a surf skate. I have a smoothstar, but carver is also a good option. Ombe surf is another great app for training and he has plenty of surf skate videos on YouTube for free.

I surf. Have 4 kids. Still surf. Just ask the wife to see the difference in you when you surf vs when you don’t. I’m m happier, more energy, more helpful, etc. Think most are.

I tried surfing for the first time this past weekend and had a blast. I caught a wave on my 2nd attempt and was consistent for the rest of my lesson. Now I keep scouring Craigslist trying to find a board that’s a good fit!

Does anybody have experience or an opinion on Catch Surf for a first board? There seems to be tons of used boards for sale in my area, but they all seem to be above my level/pricey for a beginner’s first board or just not a good size for me. I came across Catch Surf and they seem to be decent. Reviews lead me to believe that it is marginally better than Wavestorm, and with my credit card points it would actually cost the same, if not cheaper.

I am looking at this in 8ft, https://catchsurf.com/collections/blank-series/products/blank-series-funboard-thruster

My thought is something like this could be good to start on, and when I’m at a level that justifies a better board I can keep it for when I have out of state visitors.

Great boards for newcomers. Always go foam when learning. For your safety and others in the water. Also make sure to surf away from main breaks. Go grind in mediocre waves. I’d say just get a wavestorm, or now Gerry Lopez at Costco, but if same price catch surf is bit better if a board.

Thanks for the info and tips! I did come across that Gerry Lopez board but it is listed for $220. Maybe in store is different, as I read some people got it for $99. I might just pop in and see if they have it for that price. If not I will go for the Catch Surf which would end up costing me about $200 shipped for the board, leash and a 3 pack of wax.

I definitely plan on sticking to the area where I had my lesson. It was far less crowded and waves were still about 3-5ft. I couldn’t imagine needing anything more than that at this point.

Cruz has great waves all over. Cheap foamy is the call for now. You’ll upgrade in a year to something more legit. But I been surfing for 25 years and still go to the foam board for Small waves. They are just plain fun.

Yeah. At Costco they are $99. You surfing cowells?? Didn’t realize you’re in SC. My uncle lived right at the hook on 42nd for a bunch of years. Used to spend summers there surfing pleasure point and the hook. Eating pleasure point pizza and loving life.
