opinions on bumpers for 1st gens

all pro tube style or the steel plate style?

 

What are you using it for... And rear or front?

Tube is more for offroad, lighter, better approach angle and easier to access.

Plate if for style and usage.

 

Im for style and trails with some mudding

How much heavier are the plate bumpers like Elite, etc... compared to the stock?

And does the increase in weight affect driveability and mpg?

 

I believe the Elite plate bumper is about 100lbs. Im sure the stock bumper dosen't weigh much its mostly plastic.

 

any good suggestions for rear bumpers. tube or plate. I just dont want to pay more than 450 and dont wanna get another stock bumper. the one i have now is completely rusted out.

Elite makes a NICE looking rear bumper

 

I like the 4x innovations and badlands rear bumpers

 

The Elite bumper with winch installed weighed 160 lbs. That is with synthetic cable. The toyota tupperware and cross bracing that gets removed weighed 30 lbs. So a net gain of 130 lbs.

It did not effect driveability at all but I have the SAWs with 650 lbs coils. If anything, the added weight smoothed it out a wee bit. I am sure on stock coils it would be a different story.

Not really sure about mpgs. I had already lost some when I did the lift and put on bigger tires. I don't think adding the bumper made it any worse.

 

i want either elites bumper or an ARB bumper but i just dont have the money right now :/
