Me too!! I found a bagel shop that is unlike any other. They have blueberry bagels that don’t have little pieces throughout. The bagel is full of whole blueberries. Little butter on that bad boy and mmm, mmm good!

...and you can pin them up or down.

I've got one with suspension so my 3 balls go up and down.

This is the one I have on my work truck. The suspension doesn't work if the trailer is too lite. They do make one for lite use but you still have to have enough weight to make it work. You can feel the difference. You can still feel the weight of the load but all the jolting is pretty much gone. Some tri-balls work but most don't because the pin holes are offset. So if the holes are too far toward the ball the hitch hits the suspension and you can't get the pin in.

Very RED is another color to be worried about. Especially if it starts traveling up your leg.:hattip:

That one will work as a pintal as well I like the idea of locking it in and it will do it all.

So, I'm the king of making jobs more complicated then they need to be, hence the slow progress with the deck stairs.

On Saturday I marked out roughly where a landing will be and started digging. I had decided that I would dig out a hole that I would build a wooden form around and backfill with #57 gravel to bring it up to grade. The 4' span ( width ) of the new stairs saw a 8" drop in grade.
Today I got a ton of the #57 gravel and dug down another 6" of so and filled in with the gravel to make a level plane, then sat the wooden gravel box in place and back filled around it. I got about 4 wheelbarrows of gravel dumped before it got to dark to do any more. plus my old fat ass is just tired.

If I was thinking farther ahead during this whole process, my dumb ass would have just established the landing area, poured a 6" deep pad THEN built the stringers around that. Ugghhhh... I love it when a plan comes together...o_O

I made the 4runner do the hard work again.. 4cyl Tacos just can't do it.

A full yard of the gravel, estimated to weight around 3000lbs.. perfect for a 2300 lb payload... I was hoping for a safety factor of at least 1.5 so that the trailer axle didn't turn into a smiley face.. it seems to have survived the abuse.

It's a handy set up. But it is heavy. Not something you wanna carry too far. I take everything pinned to it off just flipping it over (when I have to).

That's going to be one hell of a pad! For what it's worth, I did it the way you described here, and I prefer the method of stringers first, then the pad poured up to the stringers. But why does it look like the right side stringer is not on the pad? You also might consider adding some anchors to the bottom of the stringers going into the concrete.

I tried the overweight load with my small utility trailer hauling landscaping bark. It didn't turn out well. The axle survived, but the tongue collapsed as I tried to move the trailer off-road across my pasture when I got home. :anonymous: Fixable, but I won't do that again.

The grade drop is what was driving the decision to raise the grade somehow.. this was the least expensive option that I could come up with. The one stringer is over the box but it's ok, they are all coming off because the rim joist is cracked in half where it meets the foundation wall. When I replace that, I will rehang the stringers in a bit closer, I will end up with 42" wide stairs which is fine. I was struggling with the hand railing post location as I wanted to bury it and tie the stringer into it, I now have that figure out as well.

No concrete, just gravel fill and pavers placed under the stringers and a few to step on inside of the gravel box.

As I laid the pad first, I couldn't add anchors for the stringers, but I did put several nails into the concrete, which I hammered my base 4x4 posts onto for anchors. I wanted to make sure nothing would ever touch the dirt, as that is what caused the original stairs to rot. Then I tied the stringers to the 4x4 to keep the stringers from moving anywhere they shouldn't.
