What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Should have, but didn’t, gotten before and after pictures. Went under the truck grinding and picking rust. Wiped it all down then hit it with rattle can rust reformer. It’s all ready for the 3 cans of FF I’ve got sitting in storage.

also going in for a tune today.

 

Did a drain & fill of the ATF. Followed this
https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/how-to-drain-refill-automatic-transmission.63851/ Pretty straightforward once I was able to get it into the temp check mode. Also got these brackets mounted to the back canopy tracks to mount my 4’ awning over the tailgate.

 

Did a little job on the OEM aluminum skid plate tonight. Hit it with primer and Duplicolor truck bed liner.



Cat approved.



Zip tied up the block heater plug first because it kept falling behind the grille.



Rubber tubing to protect it from scratching on the Acekraut license plate frame.



Got er done. Hopefully it lasts, the coffee place parking lot gets nuts sometime. Should be easy to touch up anyway.

Started fabbing the bracket I need for the GPS antenna. Gave it a once over: lights, fluids, tire pressures.
Noticed the drive belt looking a little old so I ordered one and should have it tomorrow.

 

No they don’t. I used rust oleum rather than dupli. Yours looks like it turned out better.

 

Also, just got back from getting my tune in. Would recommend to anyone considering. It was an OV tune.

 

I'm always surprised when I read about sound deadening a Tacoma. I mean, my ears ain't what they used to be, but I am always pleasantly surprised at the sound levels in my DCLB. It ain't like my wife's Lexus (recently totaled... <sniff>) but it's quieter than the '05 Prius I had, so I count my blessings and drive on. I actually pulled a door panel to be sure the previous owner hadn't already done it.

 

Got back home today from being out of the country for a couple of weeks, and my DC all auto windows down pc was waiting for me.

I plugged it in, and none of the passenger windows open. As well as when I lock the doors, they unlock right away. Anyone else have this problem/issue?

 

Ya, stock tan is too much, kinda blinding lol IMO. Definitely have to kill as much tan and silver as possible.

 

My windows did the same until I realized the window lock button was pushed down...try that maybe.

As far as the door locks...sounds like what it does when the key is in the ignition and the door is open. Other than that, I got nothing. The new switch shouldn't change anything about the door locks.

I just got back from from being on vacation and out of the country for the past 2 weeks, and I was doing this at midnight last night. Guess I should have just gone to bed. LOL

Everything works perfectly! And yeah, the doors won't lock if the key is in the ignition. Once I took it out, they locked.

DUH!!!!!! I'm a dumb ass.

 

My F150 Lariat with a flowmaster super 50 and Cooper discoverer at3s was much more quiet in the cab than my taco. When I moved over to the Tacoma I was going to let it sit, until I took off the rear seats in the AC - then I just went whole hog with deadening to make up for the sound barriers I just removed. I also need to do the floors at some point only because the most noise I hear now is from the tires.

 

All good in the hood!

Just have to put the bezel back.

 

I used 2 cans on that skid, 3 coats per side. I couldn't imagine how many it would take to do a whole truck bed.

 

Don't be so hard on yourself. That is our job. I went to do a 10 minute abs wheel sensor swap, on a Ford, at 10:30 the other night. I thought why wait until daylight. Immediately stripped out the head in a little m5 torx screw because I couldn't see to square up the wrench. It was buried in a little pocket in the rear hub assembly. Could not get a vice grip on it. Ended up drilling out that little bastard screw. So I ended up spending nearly 3 hours on a 10 minute job. So don't feel like you own that dumbass title.

I did the same thing with the passenger window brother, no worries. I got it plugged in...excited and all, ya know......push the drivers side, PERFECT.....push the passenger front, nothing...both backs, nothing............."well this sonofabitch is sure as hell going right the fuck back where it came.....".....................................................oh wait a minute...toyota...window locks...stupid ass circuitry.................and then it worked great

 

Don't know if you've got it done yet...or just plugged it in for testing, but that switch assy attaches to the bezel. I'm assuming you know by the way the old one was in there, but...making sure...like you said, midnight after 2 weeks away, and all.
