So long story short, my dream truck was the green Tacoma in one of the higher end trim packages. I moved and needed a new truck for work so I was lucky enough to get this SR in midnight black. Had to wait about a month and my old truck would have been risky on the cross country drive. Anyway what upgrades would you all make to this truck. As of now I’ve added the center console tray. I plan on going with either 16 or 17s with a black wheel and led lights all around. Other than that I’m not sure what would follow chronologically.
    Thanks.

I just bought a new white 2022 SR DblCab 4x4 last week. A bed mat is a must and relatively inexpensive. I plan to also do LED headlight bulbs pretty quick. Post a pic of your new SR and keep us posted on what mods you do, please.

Bed mat is good, functional and easily transferred if you upgrade trims later.

Nice floor mats too, the softer rubber type like husky contours or the new weathertech HP.

Skid plate, updated head unit/speakers, kicker sub, foglights (morimotos), roof rack for height, New Fox or Bilstein suspension with 1-2 inch lift.
There is an ebay market for everything you take off to offset cost, and you will have better stuff than an OR or SR5 imo.

    Bed mat - definitely
We installed a BakFlip MX4 - highly recommend
LED - do not waste your money. My 2022 TRD OR with factory LED is ZERO better at anything than my son’s 2022 SR. These were a total waste of money.

Yes, a bed cover is really a nice option. I like the Rough Country soft roll up. I have one on my Ram 2500 and it is solid when closed but allows the use of the total bed when needed. It seems much more well-made than the $150 ones on Amazon. And regarding LEDs, I'll admit the halogens on my new Tacoma are way better than any other halogens on any other vehicle I have ever had. These(see Link) are supposed to be the best LED bulbs for the Tacoma. Reviews seem to back that up. I may give them a shot. Will post a review if I do.

The OR is not a bad deal. Having the factory locker makes it worth it. LED headlights are worth it, I've owned an SR5 previously.

Agree about the weatherproof floor mats. I have the husky's and they're still doing the job of keeping the interior fresh 4 years later.

Appreciate the replies. I’m definitely interested in everything you guys mentioned as my research brought up quite a few of these mods. Curious about the seat jackers.

The seat doesn’t feel too comfortable for me. I have found myself messing with the adjustments quite a bit to find a good spot with not a ton of luck. I have a bad lower back and after work yesterday I felt it. I used the air knob for lower back support but am nervous to see how pumped up it will go. My Chevy only took a turn or two to get full of air.

What bed mat did you purchase?

Simple mods: tailgate lock, LED interior lighting, black badges, MESO red push-to-start, MESO key fob, interior bed lights.
I bought an OEM bed mat from my local Toyo dealer for $92 plus tax (for a long bed). I was happy with that price and they are as useful as everyone says. Also easy to take out in case you want to haul something where sliding would be beneficial.

I also did the LED bed light upgrade myself. Found the OEM kit on Amazon for $68 and the unit is entirely plug and play (at least on my Sport trim). I’ve read the dealer may charge $300 for this so definitely do it yourself - it doesn’t get much easier.

I also bought an led light kit for interior lights, license plate lights, and reverse lights. $20 and it makes a huge difference with interior lighting (dome, vanity, map lights). Also very easy to do.

My best "mods" are really "adds".

Bed mat, floor liners, pad for the center console/armrest, tow hitch, roll-up bed cover, and seat jackers.

Oh yes, the seat jackers is a complete game-changer for me. I'm 6'3" and I don't hurt through my hips and lower back now on longer drives. They are worth the money - and go ahead and do both front seats at the same time. You will not be disappointed.

Do you think jackets would still be beneficial for a Tacoma with an electric drivers seat?

I am NOT trying/wanting to be argumentative, but exactly “how” are the LED headlights better (perhaps I have a bad set from the factory)?

They should definitely help. I'd recommend you start with only the front seat jackers and see how you like them (as they're more important than raising the rear.) Some people also add spacers or washers in the rear attach points to raise it too.

Our trucks have a low seat height and relatively low ceiling height.. the closer you can get your sitting position in a conventional chair like stance (with legs underneath you) the less pressure you'll have on your lumbar and lower spine. Good luck and welcome to TW.

I actually found a used one on Marketplace. It was for a longbed but I just cut off the little wings in the front and let the extra length roll up against the front of the bed. The guy was local and I only paid $40. Great deal imo...

Yeah I think I’m definitely going to order these. Contemplating on whether to just do the drivers seat for now to see how I like them. They’re fairly expensive but if it makes my seat better for my back then it will be worth it.
