Ya I definitely wasn't flooring it cause I was still in a parking lot going to get food. And I know there are a few guys that have a CAI and still splash water over the engine while off roading and no problems. I'm praying for the best end result.

Oh ok. One good thing that I can think of right now is that I have full coverage.

Ya my truck definitely doesn't have that. I think that sense my truck was a trade in from someone else a technician or someone should have noted any damage to the vehicle in determining the cost. But that might just be wishful thinking.

That's how I bought it. So I'm kinda wondering if the dealer has any record of what damage or defects were present when they bought it from whoever traded it in.

Update bump. Well according to the dealer that sold me the vehicle they DO keep records of vehicles that people trade in for 5 years so I'm hoping someone noted the damage to the fender liner.

    Another update Bump.

If anyone is even fallowing lol, called the dealership again and told them my situation, said due to the fact that my truck has the TRD intake it will not be covered under warranty. When I told them that I bought the truck with the fender liner cut off they kinda changed there look on it. They asked if it was the same side as the intake. Since it is they said they'd like me to take it down there to see if there's anyway the water could have gotten in because of that. Duh!! Of course there is.

So I'm hoping that puts things in my favor as far getting it repaired under warranty.

I am not from Toyota, but all the cover up things thats being said in this post may not help you if someone from Toyota if they are reading this.
I know from past experiences when I was in the F150 Forums that people from Ford was reading and involved and looked into problems that people were complaining about.
I am on your side, I hope the best for you, we all make mistakes, but when you go for a warranty claim just keep your mouth shut, don't tell them anything, let them figure it out, let them tell you "no" before you go on to the next step, but don't tell them what the next step is, keep them guessing.

almost 10 years ago I know a guy with a Ford Ranger hydrolocked his engine, Ford rejected the warranty claim, he countered by showing proof that the Ranger was advertized with pictures showing it running off road and he threatened them with an attorney and they gave him the engine because the engine was less expensive then their legal fees, win or lose.

Well it's in my insurance companies hands now. Tow truck just came to pick it up and have it gone through and inspected.

I'm saying it's completely toyotas fault but the fact that the liner was missing when purchased definitely played a factor.

Ya this definitely will always be a reminder to be cautious during stormy conditions. At least when it comes to standing water.

^^ ya that's what I'm saying. But will do. Probably won't get any word from the insurance company for a couple days about what's gonna happen.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune but I'm glad I'm not the only one. What did they do as far as repair goes? Did they replace it or repair it?

8" of water??? i doubt it but i was not there. I have had my truck up to the bumper with water at various speeds... no issues.

I hope all is well now, do what everyone has said and fix the air duct, i bet you have a leak somewhere that is allowing that water in the cyl. only thing i can think.

Thought I'd share an intake water story.

Had an '04 Scion Xb with a cold air intake that placed the filter low towards the bottom of the bumper, with no guard since it was lowered and all plastic underneath was pretty much gone... Went through curb height water in a parking lot under heavy rain...engine breathed it up and stalled. Pushed it out and it was stuck there. 3 days later it started drove fine.

Days later was going to do a trip to Arizona, and 70 miles out BAM!. Engine gasket blew and all my oil spilled out as I aimed for the emergency lane. Tow truck saw my oil was like "Capuccino" color meaning water got in...

Towed it to nearest toyota and didnt say a thing, thought they'd get me somehow about the intake or something but nope... got a rebuilt engine under warranty! I was at like 48,000 with a 50,000 mile warranty, sure did cut me a break...

They said one piston seized and a few of the intake valves were bent. Parts list was over 40 parts... I peeked and saw on the computer that is was almost $6,000! On their tab ofcourse....

Good thing you did the insurance....
