are you asking about strapping them at full extension? by the time the straps stetch they won't really be helping anything at that point. the spacer isin't gonna help the shocks in the event of a hard droop out....theres really not much difference to what it will do to the seal cap with or without the extension when the shock fully extends. i would say leave the 1/4-1/2 buffer before full shock extension to protect the shock. the travel amount lost will probably be negligable/not noticable.

Simple answer is no. The shocks are able to take the forces of extension to a certain extent but you're setting yourself up for failure in the long term if you use them as the limit. The limit straps have some elasticity in them and will stretch a bit. The correct practice is to limit earlier than full extension and allow them to stretch to length. There's an equation to figure out how much to limit out there somewhere.

This. The internal spacer is to shorten the extended length of the shock and prevent damage to other hard components but again it's not ideal to use them solely as the limiting factor.

Thanks, yes my shocks have already been strapped about 6/16th of an inch (from shock bottoming out) to account for the stretch so my real question was how much is that spacer actually dampening the shock bottoming out if you were to strap say at 2/16th of an inch or so. Im just guess the strap in my application would stretch about .25 of an inch so i was a little over aggressive in the strap.

I'm pretty sure the equation is the limit straps stretch around 8% of their total length, so if you have a 10" strap, it would stretch 0.8" or 26/32nds

We usually use the 1/4” stretching overall rule of thumb

Kartek says their straps stretch 1" for every 12" of strap right on the limit strap product page

We account for 10 percent of overall length for stretch when setting up a truck, gives you a little buffer for strap fatigue over time.

I need an excuse to get a little unit like that... Unfortunately the excuse is probably a big price tag, and a whole lot further out of town than I live now:notsure:

Progress. Bedsides mounted along with chase lights and jack. Gave them a bit of a dovetail to make the bodywork a bit narrower in the rear since I opted out of bobbing the bed. Took about 10” off the overall width at the tail lights
