IDK what a truck gear ratio is but I used these for my references!

    2G:
Tacoma 4.0-liter with 5-speed ECT automatic
    1st 3.52
    2nd 2.04
    3rd 1.40
    4th 1.00
    5th 0.72
    Reverse 3.22
    Differential Ratio: PreRunner/4x4 3.727

    4.0-liter with 6-speed manual
    1st 4.17
    2nd 2.19
    3rd 1.49
    4th 1.19
    5th 1.00
    6th 0.85
    Reverse 3.61
    Differential Ratio: 4x2 3.153; PreRunner/4x4 3.727

    3G:

Edit: I should add that I calculated using 31 inch tires for each, and only calculated the V6 4x4s

I've seen full sized trucks, with big v8s or diesels fail at the ramp does this make them not real truck engines?

The Honda Pilot's 3.5L/V6 was enough power for me and my family.

It was the same V6 from the Acura MDX so it was already validated as a quality engine.

You're brining back some childhood memories with those type of cars.

Didn't Barbie have a car/truck of some sort?

I also played marbles when I was done playing with my Hotwheels in the dirt between our neighbors house. Memories...

There have been dyno tests on here that show zero difference from the Factory filter setup, however if you after looks or changes in intake sound then go for it.

As someone who has towed with the Tacoma, and replaced it, I can say with a shadow of a doubt the 3.5 has a ton of power, but could use a gear between 3 and 4. I don’t think it’s a lack of power, but the transmission ratios are not ideal.

So I reviewed the last several pages.
Whoever the fuck is arguing truck engines versus care engines has zero knowledge of torque.
If you want to change the torque, you change the gearing. Simple. I can take my 26 HP tractor and out pull a 4.0 if my gears are correct.
So, quit talking like you know what you are talking about.
4.0, 3.5, it's all in the final drive.

What is the exact final gear ratio a truck should have? we must know so we can properly identify the heretical non trucks in our mists.

What normal people do not understand is a 5 HP lawn mower engine can have more torque than a 300 HP diesel engine. It all depends on gearing, and speed required.
