I looked at my RXT leaf pack today. They have shims between each leaf except the bottom two. Optional leaf has the holes drilled for plastic pads and there are 4 plastic pads included (two per leaf).
Looks like changes have been made over time with the leaf packs. I received mine just before Christmas.

I would love to hear from someone who has installed on a 2nd gen and could give me measurements. I'm stuck between stage one and two. I tow a tandem axle trailer with two 4 wheelers very occasionally (I have a 3/4 ton).

Is this how your packs were delivered? I may have miss read your OP. I thought you said they didn't come with spacers but you clearly said you didn't install them. Which leads one to believe they came not installed in the pack?

Your RXT pack is the same like mine, nothing changed.
The end of the 2nd leaf still has no hole for plastic pad and is a lot of friction there. That is the place I drilled and added a pad to eliminate friction along the length of the leaf. Also the spacer plated are still "garbage" with rough edges and holes. I ordered my spacers from cut to size.

Nice rebuild. Looks very professional too.
I’ve never seen brass used in between the leafs like that before. Since it’s a softer metal, are you at all concerned about those plates in the center flattening or thinning out a bit over time and causing your U-bolts to constantly become loose?

Agreed, I saw the hole missing after I pulled the shrink wrap off.
I will install the plastic pad before I install the pack to keep the squeaking to a minimum. I'll go with the steel spacers for now and see how they hold up.

Brass is softer but hardens the more it is "worked". If you reload for rifles this is a common issue as the brass hardens and become difficult to resize. RIfle bras is also put under incredible pressure which the leaf pack will never see.

Im interested to see how brass holds up. My guess is pretty good.

why were they not made this way from the factory? i know leaf springs are notorious for squeaking

i got squeaks, i may go the same route, replace a the inserts and pads... pisses me off after spending money and time installing these only to find out you need to spend more money and time to fix them, come on ICON. also the pads had no grease on them, found this out when i installed option 2.

mine were missing one of the plastic pads for option 3. after waiting on hold with icon i got fed up and ordered them on Amazon, came next day, though not needed right now.

not happy with my icon rxt.

I got leaf liner sandwiched between all leaves. For the smallest and 2nd largest (both have no plastic spacers or holes for them), the liner goes from tip to tip. The leaves with plastic spacers go from spacer to spacer. I used the included metal spacers. They definitely are rough. I also sprayed one side of the leaves and both sides of the spacers with a graphite aerosol spray before putting the liners on.

One pack has been done like this and I've compressed it by putting weight on it. No squeaks so far but I'm obviously not putting the same forces as the truck will. The second will be reassembled tomorrow.

I'm hoping the liners solve the problems you had with direct contact and friction. I sprayed both sides of the leaves with some rustoleum to hopefully prevent or at least mitigate rusting. Do you think it'd still be worth it to get the better spacers? If so, what dimensions and thickness did you go with? I read this thread months ago and messed around with their configurator and wasn't sure.

Excellent write up. Very thorough and pictures are great.

This is one amazing right up. Might need to put some more work into mine.

I am in need of the stage one leaf spring clamps the RXT springs come with already installed. Therefore, if anyone changed their leaf’s to stage two or three and can send me your stage one clamps you took off I will gladly pay you for them. I really appreciate any help!
