Got a pretty young vixen this year. Straight out of Disney central casting. She's been pulling discarded squash out of the mulch pile. Some have been nibbled. This morning; undisputed it's hers.

We add Tums when we plant tomatoes, for the same reason.
Been canning like crazy. Put away another 6 jars of fig preserves last night, sold more figs last week.
Tonight we are making more spiced pears.

    Too funny.

My wife gets meds for her mom (almost 100) - well turns out she had a bunch of "expired" Citra-Cal. In the beds it went! We still used lime (Ca) and epsom salts (Mg) - plants and tomatoes = unbelievable!

A couple in the hole before we put the seedling in. Then sprinkle Osmocote around the plant. We have so many plants, I try to use the slow release fertilizer whenever I can. Do not have time otherwise
This fall I will till in manure, pelletized lime and epsom salt and let it saturate the soil over winter. Never done it ahead of time, we'll see. Should work better.

    Sprinkle slightly then till in.
I use raised beds, so it is a bit different than regular garden. I add fresh soil and manure every spring.

Found these on the property a couple of weeks ago. We have nuts!!!! And tree has limelight, so it is still growing
Need to look for more of them. AI ma happy, since I took down my unsuccessful Almond this spring (late frost always had always killed the blossoms), and hazelnut bushes have not panned out either.

    No, helps with bloom rot.
For lower acidity in tomatoes plant yellow tomatoes, or Cherokee black tomatoes, they are less acidic.

My problem is I eat too many at once. Then all hell broke loose on the porcelain bowl.

I want to find a good selection of tomatoes for salsa.

Look for yellow tomatoes at the farm market. Use Mrs Wages salsa mix. Makes the 2nd best salsa ever. Best is from Cherokee Purple tomatoes.

Try skinning the tomatoes. Quick hot water bath method. Not COOKING the tomato.

It's the skin that gives you the shits not the "acid".
