For the record the water wasn’t nearly that large or deep when I parked. I was glad to not be driving a UTV that day for sure.

I’ve been very happy with my Diode Dynamics. The SS3’ s also have the swappable lenses.

as long as you are looking at additional lighting I would suggest a chase light or 2
    :boink:

So far I’ve only been told nice things about mine from the peeps following me on dusty trails.

Right now I have an ego weedwacker, but I keep it seperated from the leafblower since they fight a lot. In fairness, I cant blame the blower…that weedwacker is a bit a shifty- eyed. You can tell it has a past. The blower deserves a new friend.

Why yes, yes I do! Please come in and sit. Would you like some cheese and crackers?

I already have one of the bigger batteries. And I was thinking about getting the smaller 14” saw. Mostly just to have for around for typical suburban yard duty, but still be able to use it for “manly” trail clearing situations. You think that would change the calculation?

Otherwise, you’ll have to tell me what Festool has offer. Come in, have some cheese and crackers. :D

Bad weather is just the texture of life…or something like that. i got my cheap suction cup based car canopy packed and ready to go in case we get too much texture.

See, it’s guys having each others backs like this is what keeps me coming back. I could have remained unaware of any possible chase lighting needs, but now it’s on my list.

I’ve heard the Milwaukee batteries can be overtaxed when used in their chainsaws. And I use a grinder with some regularity, which is probably even worse for the battery. If I add a chainsaw to the rotation, I’d be afraid I’d cook my batteries.

But Ive looked at so many reviews that they just start blending or just cancel each other out. It’s almost easier to just get anything, and then defend my purchase as if my self-worth depended on it. You guys will hear my glowing reviews of whatever I end up getting. Lol

Oh there will be some mods all right
The big 12.0s run great till empty with the chainsaw, any others, not so much.

I run the 12 or 8. Haven’t had an issue with either. Most of the time you aren’t running the saw nonstop, lot of stop and go.

I wouldn't recommend using it with the smaller batteries. I'm pretty hard on my batteries, and I will say that after a few years they definitely lose a little power. But, I use them in heavy duty tools pretty regularly. I wouldn't be concerned, unless you were going to use the chainsaw all day long on a regular basis.

At the minimum, I'd recommend the high output batteries like this:

I would expect any of the high output batteries to be fine. I use 6,8, and 9 amps hour batteries in my big hammer drill, hole-hawg, and circular saw without any issues.

For just clearing a tree out of the trail real quick the 8.0 would be fine but in my experience when we were cutting downed trees to fill a truck bed and trailer the 8.0 overheated very quickly while the 2 12s gave consistent performance all the way until empty. I will concede it's possible I have a bum 8.0 but it seems to work good with the leaf blower and other tools so idk.

I'm not an expert, but it sounds like your leaf blower identifies itself as a broom.
Your trimmer may need sensitivity training.:D

I believe you’ve nailed it on the head, and it’s exactly what Ive been telling my leafblower when we have a chance to talk. But there’s only so many ways that you can tell a battery leafblower that it doesnt have to live by the roles society and the patriarchy imposes on it…and that modern battery technology has made it possible to be fluid in your tool identity. Tell you what, that thing has a very traditional personality for a leafblower. Hopefully any chainsaw I get doesnt turn out to be such an angsty mess.

(Sorry, couldnt help myself. I was in madison today, and it must have rubbed off :laugh::laugh:)

The trimmer though, it’s a lost cause. Im just glad it does it does it's job before it does whatever it does after I put it away.

This is kind of what I was thinking. Obviously you're not going to want to run it all day on the smaller batteries. But, I think it would be fine for using it for 5 minutes at a time.
