I just brought mine with sunroof through a carwash today. No issues ever for the 10 other times in 2+ years. 3 different carwashes. I would give them an opportunity to get it fixed under warranty. I'm sure corporate is going to need to review the repair regardless of what dealership does the warranty repair work. Then i would find a different dealer. I no longer go to the dealer i bought mine from cause they don't know how do an oil change properly... twice.

    Wow. What a disaster OP.

Really a tell of horrible customer service from your dealer.
Please let everyone know who they are so they don't experience such an awful ordeal.

That dealer is a piece of shit. I would go get my truck back and take it to another dealer. And I would call Corporate and tell them exactly how they treated you.

thought about that, the last thread I watched that addressed something similar let loose the dealership and service managers name, people called the dealership and harassed them, the OP got threatened with a defamation lawsuit from the dealership.

I’m holding out for now, I apologize.

No need to apologize at all.

Do what you need to improve your chances of the dealer making it right for you. It's really crazy that you are having to deal with this.

If it goes south, please do everything you can to burn them to the ground :) (clearly not setting the place on fire, but there also isn't a defamation problem if what you report is the truth).

Look at it this way. If it is covered by warranty or not, the dealer would be paid for the work either by you or Toyota Corp. The fact that they are actively trying to pin this on you and an automatic car wash is a major red flag. Look for another dealer and raising the concern with corporate would be your best course of action.

I use my sunroof daily and take my truck through car washes every couple of months without problems.

I think it's hilarious that the dealer's logic is so asinine more than one person even has to chime in that autowashes don't damage their Tacos moonroof.

    Name and shame them please.

Argue with them until they fix it. If you aren't comfortable with being a pain in the ass, have a friend that knows auto that is willing to be a pain in the ass argue with them until they give in

Arb summit bumper. Morimoto led headlights and new grill. Grill and lights have sequential turn signals.
I have a 2016 and go through a car wash at least twice a month.
No car wash can match a heavy rain storm.
Yet it's good for nature but not a car wash ?
    Clowns.

That Service manager is a ass.
Find his boss and ask if they approve of condensending aholes.

Then tell them your going to file a lemon law case.

As for the roof, probably a lose part jamed it up and knocked it off the track.

Like the others said, go above the dealership.

Personally I hate sun roofs for this reason, I've been up to elbows in them 1 time to often, but there is NO WAY the dealer can reject your warranty for going through and automatic car wash. Call corporate, go ballistic, make noise, demand free stuff.

I personally haven’t had an issue w them, but haven’t had many, I don’t want them either. Risks and rewards aren’t there for me. I’ve had friends w major issues and buddies that are tech w horror stories. When they go bad, boy do they.

I generally tear the guts out and rtv the window part in. The UV rays nuke any plastic parts if they are parked outside most of the time.

Go to the dealer and get some pictures of the damage and post them here. 7k worth of damage just from opening the sunroof partially is B.S. Is the sunroof not working the only problem you are having? If you did 7k in damage to the wire harness there should be alot more stuff not working for that kind of damage. Pulling out 4 seats, headliner and door panels is maybe 2-3 hours of work. We need to see pictures.

sounds like a super shitty dealer. if they make you pay. dont. call corporate. THEY'LL LOVE to hear this. we have sunroof failures just like you've got there. it happens. is it common? no. how did it mess up 7,000 in harnesses? no one knows. it likely doesnt need anything other than the track assembly and they're spewing bullshit trying to get you to admit fault for something so they can get more money.

This is the exact nightmare that drove me to intentionally avoid buying a Tacoma with a sunroof
