I owned them sequentially so I only have the Plaid now. Because I had dual on board chargers on my 85D, I have a 100 amp circuit with a Tesla charger capable of outputting 80 amps. My Plaid maxes at 48 amps and I’m hoping the Max Pack R1T gets a larger on board charger but I doubt it will. The 85D could charge at 60 miles/hour max on a Level 2 charger which made up for its shorter range.

When i charged the 85P it maxed out at 38 amps at home. Seems they've improved onboard charging since 2013

I kind of find that even more strange. I envision a 47 year old man frantically pre ordering all the EVs like a kid circling every toy in the Sears Wish Book. (Millennials may not know what that is):D

Sears Wish Book was the shit.

But for real, I literally piss away more than $1000 in beer and whiskey every year with no chance to get that back so what’s it hurt to set aside $1000 on a refundable truck reservation.

I don’t consider buying any new vehicle an investment. The people getting an investment are the ones taking the $1000 from everyone and using it to fund their company.

I agree and never said the new vehicle was an investment. Let me break it down Barney style for you I guess.

$1000 refundable deposit locked in pricing at the preorder level. The truck I have configured to order is $74,775.

Invest that $1000, make a reasonable 10% return over four years and end up with $1464. Buy the same configured Rivian at current pricing for $91,350.

If I don’t purchase the Rivian I am out $464 in potential earnings. If I do buy the Rivian I am saving $16000 and my $1000 deposit essentially grew to a $15000 deposit.

Wow. That’s pretty wacky. Completely useless for an off road vehicle though. Imagine using that piece of shit off road or in a snow storm. How can Rivian design an off road suv with no space for a full size spare?

Agreed, I wouldn't want to see that work offroad or even on the road in the rain.

It’s a truck not a luxury car or a race car. My interior is covered in beach sand and mud all the time. Plus where can I even use this speed. I drive on busy roads with speed limits.

You're a perfect candidate for an EV Tacoma :yay:

You didn’t know any of that when you ordered it though. I’d call that lucky not smart.

This is such an comically bad take.

Maybe I’ll get an EV Tacoma if the price makes sense.
What cracks me up about the EV boys is all the wacky reasons they have to justify wanting the truck. Just say you want it because you think it’s cool. That’s fine with me. I don’t need to hear it’s the best towing, best interior, fastest, drives through the lake to launch a boat, saves the earth, etc.

Have you ever heard the comment “It’s more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow”

I’m confused. Are you being sarcastic. And what’s the deal with hating on millennials, whom was the people the raised them and shaped them the way they are.

The best is when people bitch about millennials without realizing they themselves fall into the millennial generation year group.

Someone has a chip on their shoulder for what a Millennial did to them and as such keeps projecting that on to me and others who are obviously not in that age group so I wanted to clear up that they were wrong.
