Been in TX my whole life and power only went out during last years freeze… Have also never had a bill over $200 (it’ll be 40 in the winter months)… But then again my 2K sq ft house is super efficient

It doesn’t hurt because I’m getting what I wanted. I could have had a launch edition months ago.

Been in the northeast, nyc, pdx and Cali. So far Portland had the most consistent power. Always had battery back up alarm clocks before cell phones. Nyc was consistent except the blackout in 05? But lots of brownouts here and there.

We lost power here in Portland for 4 days after an ice storm in February 2021. My Tesla Powerwalls got me through 2 days. In hindsight, I could have shut off more circuits and gone longer.

Oh. I forgot about the battery in the house. There have been some recent brownouts that we don’t experience.
4 days is sketchy for some people.

Those ppl that pay over $200 in electric a month either have their AC at 70 (when it’s 100 out) and/or ass for shit insulation

That’s gonna be a great feature of the BEVs. I’m surprised more don’t do it.
The Lightning has a real advantage with it

Yeah. And so what if your electric truck doesn’t work for a few days? Light some candles, break out the board games, unstuff the sleeping bags, and have jammy party.

People with lifestyle trucks, man. You’d think they could handle a cold night or hot day without power once in awhile just to keep their tolerances up.

Man fuck these Rivian assholes. They just did away with the cheapest explorer trim. Now base price is $78k up from $72500 on the R1S.

Base price on truck still remains at $72,500 tho.

New sequoia is looking like the better option.

I want to build my own electric truck.

I'm surprised to see as many Grand Wagoneers and Wagoneers as I do. I'm not sure what the lowest priced Wagonner starts out, but most of them seem to be around 90k, and it's not electric. I usually see stay at home moms driving the Wagoneers.

The Sequoia seems like a nicer truck anyways. Especially since it’s starting at 20K cheaper. 20K can get you a few nice vacations. Why blow it all on a fricken truck?

I'm honestly surprised it took them as long as it did to start paring down options. For a startup they offered a lot of differences that added complexity to the supply chain and the production line.

I tried the jammy jam, my daughters (one of them) would get carried away with being afraid of the dark. But mostly I just would make sure some clock is right somewhere. My truck isn’t at a “lifestyle” point right now either. I’m going camping this weekend so my dometic is behind the drivers seat and there are two pelican boxes and a Jerry can in the bed. But I keep it stock looking otherwise.

I’m sure starting up a company before the pandemic, they were all giddy and went for it. The whole salami. Not like now. Nowadays you actually have to pay attention, again.

Which truck would you rather find parts for in 5 to 10 or even 20 years. Which truck would you prefer to maintain?

Those, are the real questions to be asking.

Edit: for example, there are no aftermarket headlights for sale for the rt1. I just looked. That very well could never change. The rt1 will never be produced in numbers large enough for parts makes to want to make.

Do you realize that this means we will never be able to retrofit those headlights onto a taco? Oh the humanity. Rivian headlight swap forum died before it even got a chance.

A base 4x4 sequoia starts at $63K… And it’ll automatically have $5k in dealer add ons. You’ll be hard pressed to find a base model with just 4x4 option. I shopped around for a base SR tundra earlier in the year and all of them had $3-4k in dealer add ons

Base R1S was $65k after EV rebate, but then assholes just upped the price $78k ($71,500 after EV rebate)

Factor in about $1800 annual gas cost for the sequoia. It’s still somewhat competitive.

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if they did another price increase to $79,999 just to meet the EV rebate criteria. Fuck these guys
