No more than $1900 for Toyota's Platinum VSA with 10 yr/125k coverage in my case. They wanted $4400 at first! You don't have to buy it tomorrow. If the dealer won't negotiate down to that price then don't do it. You can buy it over the phone from Jennifer at Wolverine and her number is floating around here on other threads. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE REAL TOYOTA PLATINUM VSA unless you're in the Southeast and have to do the SE Warranty. You have until your factory warranty expires to buy the extended warranty so remember that!

Read the fine print for all the things that are covered/not covered. There was a time when I'd laugh at the idea of an extended warranty for a Toyota but not anymore. It's a great investment and *will* pay for itself.

Negotiated from $2200(?) to I think $1400 in Oct of 2019 for the extra seven years and yes, it's only a seven year warranty when the first three are a given on a new vehicle.

Wouldn't it be easier to negotiate during the purchase of the vehicle, and you got a number for Jennifer or at least the company info?

    Thank you!

I am insured with Geico. They have a Mechanical Breakdown Coverage. There is a $250 deductible, per occurrence, and it covers the vehicle to 100k miles and 7 years. It costs $11 every 6 months when I signed up. That is less than $150 for 7 years and 100k miles.

Going into F&I with the known numbers is excellent. I did that with my wife's new RAV4 back in February. At first I declined the warranty and of course they pushed hard. I said "give it to me for $1750 for the 10y/125k and we got a deal." The lowest he would go after lots of back & forth with the Sales Mgr, he came in with $1900. I didn't finance the entire OTD price but we did get 2.49% from Toyota so I went ahead wrapped the VSC into the note and went with it. I was completely satisfied at that price point because it was all done at that point and I didn't need to burn anymore cash.

I would love to see the fine print on that policy rider. You know, coverages and exclusions, just out of curiosity.

Also have the MBI, have not had to use it but it’s one of the reasons outside of a good premium I stay with them.

Southeast Toyota and Gulf States Toyota can't finance a TFS VSA, so they don't typically sell them.

this is a sales brochure not policy language.

also, like 99.9% of TFS VSAs are $0 ded. what is this $250 nonsense?

also also... TW boomers are so fucking paranoid of making a claim on their insurance and getting rates hiked... yet yall think UW isn't going to look at your multiple MBI claims and link them to your renewal next year? oh_okay.gif

    You are right sir.

Seems pretty straight forward to me, just won't cover normal wear and tear items. I guess if you want the policy language, a call to the number listed in the brochure would be necessary.

$0 deductible with a $2,100 cost of policy = $300 yr. Geico at $60 a year with 5 repairs at $250 deductible in the 7 years would be $1620. $231 Yr. I don't think the average person would get even 1 warranty repair let alone 5. Seems to me like a good deal assuming the policy language is ok.

If it's not a moving violation or an accident, I would not even think twice about my rate being increased with a MBI claim.

I'm not for or against either, both are issued to make a profit and if you think the dealer or Toyota with not try and get out of any claim, it's a dream.

dang I think I paid $1700 for the 7yr/100k did not realize for 200 bucks more I could get another 25k miles and 3 years. wonder if I can buy it to extend it now?
