On that note, Greg Zipadelli confirmed SHR is committed to Custer and so basically said KB will not be in the 41 next year.

I think NASCAR is paying Kurt to stay out. Think about it. They get another winner or two and Kurt is out and they are off the hook. And if not, Kurt comes back and is fresh for the Chase. Doesn’t really have a shot at the championship anyway.

it’s the plot to Days of Thunder. Head injury recovery. When he returns, his young hotshot fill-in will move to the #18 and challenge him. Does Kurt win the Daytona 500 again in 2023?

If this is the case, he can’t run for ROY next season. He can only run 6 races this year. They’ll get Kurt back in the car this year.

EDIT: If Kurt isn't ready by playoffs, they'll put JHN in to finish out the season.

I could see this. You know Matt K is not afraid to put the money into it and he can afford it. And the success that Trackhouse is having has to be pissing him off. Though he built something from the ground up and Trackhouse pretty much purchased a mid tier team, Trackhouse has still made serious gains in performance.

That awkward moment when you said you were retiring because you assumed you were getting fired and your boss was like, hey man. You can stick around if you want.

My wife is a HUGE Almirola fan. She says "whenever Aric wins you get laid". I HATE HIM! Jk.

If you doubt Cory’s talent you should watch the roadkill episode he did where he drove an old LTD around the track dumping oil under the rear tires without lifting. Dudes got skill and some balls! In the right equipment he is probably a top 10 driver out of all of them.

Those guys all have a lot more talent than we realize. But, as far as NASCAR goes, I believe if he was that good, he would have gotten a better ride, or be more of a factor now that the cars are all spec parts. Furthermore, I've seen Alex Bowman featured on more than one episode of Vice Grip Garage and he's not exactly killing it in those events, but he has the talent to be under contract with arguably the best team in NASCAR.
