Checksum? Pretty common, especially if moving and updating firmware with USB flash drives. Run a checksum after writing to the USB drive. Ideally compare to the supplier provided value, or if that's not available, the freshly downloaded file.

VFTuner/Mat didn't find an issue with the file following review. Recommended re-doing the procedure normally used (ensure customer is on newest VF version, start with previously built file, apply VIN and export).

    Hey Guys.

    first time posting!!
before tuning my truck with a OTT tune I discovered my ecu version was 04c20, I wanted to update and I followed OP guide , i managed to get techstream V14 up and running but have a few question before going through the update.

my truck VIN number and window sticker shows that my truck is 2021 model but the ecu and door sticker shows its a 2020 model, is it something I should consider if I only want to update ?

my battery voltage is 12.3 is it safe to flash without using the battery charger?

ECU is not a 2020, else it would be 04B80, 81, or 82 for the ID. Door sticker is when it was manufactured, doesn't necessarily tell you the year. Update to 04C21 and you'll be just fine.

12.3 VDC is fine, but check again before flashing the tune. Flashing the update takes much longer than flashing a tune.

The TS and vF software and the ECU Update Wizard will tell you your ECU ID.

If you can listen to the radio for 30min on Accessory, you can do a 10min flash.

Thank you, I'll be flashing the update, just wanted to confirm i have to only update the file itself (04c21) without having techstream running correct ?

Correct. You need Techstream installed and configured, but you do not need to open it up. Just double-click on the .cuw file and it will walk you through, step-by-step.

thank you for your reply, didn't know that I can update the ecu via VF tuner. I already have it installed TS, would you suggest updated it via VF tuner or TS ?

vF Tuner does not support updating ID's yet. So you need Techstream.

Like @ktbell444 said. vF cannot update ECUs yet. Just saying that you can check ECU IDs with it.

It will be nice when VF has this ability but TS handles it pretty easily.

At one point I ran across a decent thread of various Techstream instructionals detailing how to modify door chimes, seat belt chimes, etc...can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

I just downloaded and installed TechStream V14.20.019 from the first page of this thread and Shellshocks EXCELLENT directions. Everything went smoothly but when I click on CONNECT TO VEHICLE (just trying this before actually connecting to my truck) I get a CRITICAL UPDATE pop-up window telling me this version is obsolete and needs to be updated. That didn't bother me until I noticed the CANCEL button is greyed out and not available.
Will this happen when I connect to the truck? If so, what's the best way to handle it?
