And I'm also about to do a Gen2 to 2.5 facelift and bought a "ram-air" hood from Amerihood. I plan to cut out an opening in the stock TRD lid of the airbox and with some foam/weatherstripping, have it pressure sealed against that underhood square opening when everything is closed.

@SUMOTNK, I'm curious to hear how the hood fitment is and if it helps keep temps down in the engine bay.

You will get some air drawing thru but a ram effect will certainly not happen

Visually, it looks pretty good. The 'glass isnt wavy and the edges/corners look true. But I'm not a body guy etc..

As for heat dissipation, those vents left me a little underwelmed with the opening and stuff but it serves as a hood vent and minimizes puddling when its stationary and it rains. I may need to buy a HF ir thermometer to confirm its functionality.

Is this because it's a low pressure area right at the mouth of the stock hood scoop? I'm onboard that it will draw air into the box but wont pressurize it at all...but I'm also hoping the added benefit is colder denser air regardless of volume.

My fingers are crossed that the shape of the hood scoop on this Amerihood might have advantages over stock but I'm no aerodynamics expert nor have access to a wind tunnel. The scoop on the amerihood is a little larger and taller IMO.

    Screenshot_20220819-104138_Chrome.jpg

Ultimately, i had to procure a new hood for the Gen2.5 project. And I prefer the skerp look over non scoop and also got the weight saving over stock. If there is a small benefit to the ducting from scoop to airbox, its icing on top of the cake.

I'm excited to find out if it makes any difference but wont be disappointed if there isnt anything.

I do get what you're saying.

It's kinda like calling a snorkel a "ram air" intake.

Hm, the install manual doesn't call out a spec other than:

Anyone interested in a fj intake? Comes with Toyota maf sensor. Everything shown. It does have a hole where I had the meth nozzle threaded into it. Can either plug it or just fill it with some epoxy or something. Just plastic I can get a connector as well for wiring it. Comes with aem filter. And lower box fits my 2005 tacoma. $300 shipped to lower 48 1F8427FA-A598-4B44-B44F-D593FB97F8DE.jpgCD11429D-A2DD-4B11-943C-17EB32557955.jpg70CCE296-1BDB-4C54-B855-2F3DADA64BBB.jpg

Would it be carb compliant for a CA truck?
Edit: also a stock MAF or a special one for extra boost/airflow etc?

I have no idea about carb compliant. And it’s the maf that fits this intake. New style maf
