A couple counties over, they have a system where the rarer stuff only goes to one store and they announce it the day before. It’s also the only county I know of that gets Weller, Taylor, and things like that. The more populous the county, the more of the good stuff they get allocated. But then the longer the line when it does come in.

I did the wait in line thing once (was seventh in line for a case of Blantons, fuck!) and was so angry I didn’t even bother waiting around for the BT I could’ve had. Will never wait in line again, it’s not worth it. At the end of the day it’s just bourbon.

I know exactly what you mean about being frustrated with the line thing. That's probably why I haven't lucked out on a bottle yet.

What you described about announcing the day before is why my ABC near work does. No wonder there's such a long line!

The other not far from my house seems to be a hole in the wall. Usually well stocked, sometimes less picked over.

I think you’ll find the Russell’s somewhere in the county. If not you may be able to put in an order for it (you don’t have to buy the whole case).

Depends on the store. One store told me that I could request an order, but I would have to purchase the whole case. That’s also the same store that said to me that they don’t get allocations. I call bullshit on that. They’re likely getting allocations but doing some shady deals with local buyers.

That’s retarded. Anything worth ordering will sell off the shelf quickly.

By the way this is the current stock in the central state warehouse. Those numbers are CASES

This is why I love Wild Turkey.

11 month just went down & just a few minutes later a man down. Picked up a new recruit from Total Wine today. Nothing special, just what me & the wife enjoy sipping without breaking the bank

Grabbed a bottle of Hibiki Harmony for my Japanese experimentation today. Happened to be on the shelf at an ABC I stopped at on the way home. $95.

Tried my first 1792 tonight, immediate reaction is I’m not a huge fan but I’ll see how it goes.

I think the sweet wheat variation is the more desirable one correct?

A lot of people like the sweet wheat, it’s very hard to find. Except apparently in Cali.

The critics don’t like that it has banana-y notes.

I have a bottle but haven’t cracked it yet.

That’s what I’ve heard. Always on the look out for Sweet Wheat, can’t find it.

Revisiting this one after about a week. Still not my cup o’ tea. Not smooth, the bite takes away any chance to enjoy flavors, which is unfortunate because they’re there.

This one’s relegated to mixer or nightcap with ice. I hate to do that with a $60 bottle.

Wow. Amazingly opposite of my take away & we've each had our first/only bottle within a week of each other. That's OK tho, it's what makes this a fun hobby. Your sentiment about this one is how I felt about 1792 after it won gold and skyrocketed to everyone's favorite list. :puke::crapstorm:

We all have different tastes, I’ve seen reviews on here of bourbons I love that the next guy hates. My boss and I like to compare notes on bourbons and we’re usually pretty close. He bought me a Smooth Ambler that he loved and I couldn’t stand. I told him to get Noah’s Mill and he ended up giving it away after two pours. It’s one of the things I appreciate about bourbon, collections become personalized.
