No, and I applaud her for not doing so up this point. For goodness sake, they still have her truck! I am not a big fan of this public shaming thing to begin with, but I would advise her to keep her mouth shut until she has her truck back.

Don't let them do anything to it, don't let them put it back together. Call a towing company and get it out of there, fast. Take it to any other dealership, let them look at the truck and see what they say at that point, it may get you going. Get your truck out of the first dealership, tell corporate what kind of BS they are trying to pull on you, impersonating a regional manager is fraud, tell corporate.

Oh? You really think op should call corporate??

Absolutely no one is now, has ever or would ever disagree that is what should happen. Thanks for attempting to reframe the exact same thought 100 comments already shared though I guess

I think they deserve some Internet fame over what they’ve done. Even if a fraction of this is true, their behavior is borderline criminal.

I mean it’s an industry known for truth and transparency. I’m sure this is just a big misunderstanding.

Can see why OP’s experience has easily made everyone angry here, so what ever happened to the “Toyota… oh what a feeling” slogan?:notsure:

 Oh, Sounds kinda gross if they still used it these days, doesn’t it?

According to the OP, the dealer pretended to call corporate and had their front desk receptionist fraudulently pose as a Toyota Rep.

OP then called Toyota care herself.

But again, that's repeating the story as it stands so far. It's the weekend now and we probably won't get any further details until the dealership opens back up next week.

I have the unique opportunity of being within close driving distance of over 10 Toyota dealers.

When my steering rack went out on my 4Runner I had quotes of 2800-10000 for parts and labor from 5 dealers (for the same work).

I was given straight up lies and several versions of truth even after I told them I knew exactly what was wrong and what was needed to fix it.

I think I know what dealer this is. Based off reviews I read this Is a common theme at the service department. Good luck op with this.

definitely a boomer legacy. BBB doesn't do shit anymore.

they are basically holding your truck hostage at this point. screw this dealer, they are pulling some shady shit and are clearly overwhelmed. i wouldn't trust them to do any work.

@Cricket-0 :: get your case number from corp , send letter to the owner of said dealership explaining situation , fictitious bumper to bumper warranty , the false toyota regional rep , the demeaning service manager . Wait a spell then escalate to your state consumer affairs department

I went with the dealer close to my house. They quoted $3500 and had the parts on hand.

@Mindgame OP has stated they don't want to name the dealership yet because of another thread of a similar situation where that resulted in ppl calling and harassing the dealer and a defamation suit.

    Enough for now
The dealer I bought mine from would not shut the fuck up about their car wash and year of free washes when you buy a new vehicle. Tried the wash two weeks after I drove off the lot and had all sorts of mud on the sides and in the bed. Shocker the dealer wash didn’t remove most if it….

No sunroof on my truck but I’ve taken my wife’s car with a sunroof through a few automatic washes and had a small amount of water come through.

hope you get your issue fixed OP, don’t trust the dealer and give them hell to get it fixed

There is no risk in this case. The dealer conspired against the customer with that fake ass stunt they pulled. Criminal charges really need to be brought against them.

They need to be outed. I just want to know if these assholes are in my area.

It's up to OP how much risk they want to take, however legitimate/illegitimate it may be. But I definitely understand everyone wanting to know, I do too. Even getting a state and county or something would be helpful. I'd say city, but if it's the only dealer in their area then that would be the same as naming them.

Wow, this is not good. I'm sure you will get Toyota to take care of this for you.
