No problem but over paying is dumb if you don't know what you're getting into. It not a guarantee reliable cause it's a Toyota.

Obviously, I bought a 2004 Tacoma a few years back that had too many rust issues and would have cost a fortune to just replace the brakes. Same thing for the 1st gen tundra the 4WD stopped working then it had issues shifting into drive. Any used vehicle can have issues.

For that money I could buy three used cars that are awesome. Unless you just really want it I think it is a bit of a silly purchase.

Me personally, I wouldn't buy the truck for that price. I bought essentially the same truck as that 9 years ago for 6k. Other than that truck looks good and it's your money :notsure:

I'd have to think long and hard before paying $15k for a 1st gen Tacoma, regardless of condition. $25k? No way on earth.

I think I paid $20k less for essentially the same thing 10 years ago.

    I wouldn't dude.

It's very nice but 25k for a truck that's old enough to drink?

For whatever reason they pull collectors premiums now but who know how long that will last and then you'll be severely upside down on a depreciating asset that is still ultimately over 20 years old, a lot of stuff just dry rots fatigues wears out and falls apart from age even if it has been well kept and maintained, who knows what headache you're buying into at what is in my opinion a grossly inflated price.

Ya that’s what it comes down to. I would prefer pay around 15k tops. But nothing like that exists especially at 64k and clean frame. But if you do run into issues then you are screwed.

That’s an insultingly high price for a truck with no spare tire and original clapped out suspension. Hard pass for anything over $11.5k and stop helping to make these insane
    used prices sound acceptable.

There is a spare just hasn’t been put on. And not sure why the suspension is “clapped” out. Even with its age at 64k miles it shouldn’t be. But I agree these trucks shouldn’t be this much. That’s why I’m more tempted to buy this and just sell it for more money. For example this one just sold for 24k with twice the mileage and more rust on the frame. Not saying it’s right but this was auction price on bring a trailer.

The price of a brand new TRD 4x4 DCSB is unacceptable also. 40-50K these days for a midsize truck and a crappy engine/tranny combo. Everything these days is asinine.

While it os your money, I believe you would be remiss to not negotiate several thousand dollars off. Furthermore, if you pay the asking price and plan to resell it for MORE, I would like to know what strain you’re smoking, because I want some.

The suspension on that truck is original. Non rebuildable shocks are good for about 50k miles give or take. The original leaf springs may be starting to introduce axle wrap, can’t say without driving it. The factory bushings and all of the other rubber bits and pieces here and there are likely starting to crack and dry rot and will need attention by someone eventually. The list certainly does go on for those aware enough to give a hoot.

For this absurd price you should not need to do a single thing for ages. Instead, you’re considering paying a very high premium for a reliable truck, yes, but also a bunch of preventative maintenance if you do things right. This price is only sort of acceptable if it’s mint turn key with immaculate service records, and even then, get thousands off.

Take a few whiffs of smelling salts and keep shopping. This ain’t the one.

On the other side of the equation, it’s 60,000 miles on a truck that will go 400000+. I’d talk to them and go from there. Drive it and see how it feels. Find out the story on the timing belt. If you like it and can afford it, make them an offer.

You caught crap from some people on this thread, but all that means is that they’re not going to bid against you.

So the dealer is asking $25k for a 21 year old Tacoma that sold for an MSRP of a little less than $22K when new. My question is when will people quit paying way more than a used truck is worth? Only then will prices return to something reasonable.

I don’t think he was given a ration of shit by anyone, we’re just trying to give our honest opinions which varies by individual. I don’t like to see folks get swindled by pandemic pricing. There is zero reason for this truck to be priced this high. Years back this price would’ve been laughed into oblivion instead of being discussed

Do it if you can get THOUSANDS OFF, so that you can put those thousands into PM and have an apocalypse rig.

Agreed. Vote with your wallet and give it a hard pass. Tell them their price is insultingly high. Reminder, people balk at the price of OEM lower ball joints…. This is on another level.
