Again I haven't drilled through any steel yet but I bet it'll easily handle it with the right bits.

I like the extended platform for wider pieces.

Just need to mount the press onto my table as I don't expect to want it anywhere else other than where it's at now.

 

Yeah my house looks like a tornado came through. Either been working or playing all summer, can't complain.

A good belt sander would be something to add to that list of needs. For sharpening drill bits, deburing, knife making etc.

If you learn how to sharpen bits on it, it will pay for itself in no time.

Funny you say that, I've wanted to buy one and a pedestal for one.

You and Jimmie both mentioned sharpening bits so it's something I'd definitely want to learn to do.

 

Sharpening bits is a skill and you can do it on a belt sander buts it's easier with a pivot jig on a pedestal grinder

 

Yeah mentioned that above; I already have the press taking up my bench so a belt sander will automatically need to be on a pedestal I can move around.

I'll use bits that no longer work well as my sacrificial lambs to the cosmic slaughter; can only learn with enough practice right?

 

Its not hard at all. A couple bad ones is all ot takes before you've got it down.

 

What kind of belt sander you got?

Would be nice to have one for getting rid of burrs and whatnot on freshly cut steel.

 

Get a drill point guide, you'll drill overlarge or undersize holes or only drill on one flute if you do it wrong
