Normal, Illinois is where Rivian’s plant is and Georgia is where the new plant is being built.

Saw a rivian at the bottom of forest road. Next day he was behind me on the way down. Which we were both stuck behind this slow ass driver in a ram. Not like the road was that rough, some sections were pretty brutal but this guy was there too. B796F069-087C-4F99-BF00-ACA89580F57A.jpg

Question for you EV bros. I’m on vacation now renting a house in Central Maine. It was about a 250 mile drive that should have taken a little over 3 hours but took 5.5 due to traffic. Would a Rivian or Lightning be able to do that? How much range would be lost due to the extra 2.5 hours of traffic? Bed full of gear and a rack with a kayak and fishing poles. Also was 90 degrees so AC was blasting.
If I did make it here how long would it take to recharge at the rental house with a standard 110 outlet?

Where did you drive from and where did you stay in Maine, more specifically? In general EVs do better than ICE vehicles in traffic because there is no idling.

Southeast MA to the Belgrade Lakes? Why does it matter.

I don’t know on the Rivian for sure. On a Tesla it’s 2-4 miles of range lost per hour of dog mode which is basically the same as idling at a stop in traffic with the AC running. The 250 mile trip would take about 260 miles of range to complete.

A 110v outlet charges a R1T at about 3-4 miles per hour. Depending on how long you’re staying that would work but there are also faster charging options about ten miles away if needed.

Lots of options along the way there too. I’d probably stop in Portland.

And? The warranty on the Tacoma is 3-5 years less. A warranty period ending does not mean the product no longer functions.

Sweet! Can I get that 20 year guarantee in writing? Will I need to pay up front and then you’ll reimburse me or how will this work?

62 charging hours to gain back the 250 miles. That’s not very convenient.

Except I didn’t stop except for a 5 minute pee break and aren’t planning on stopping. The vacation is at the destination not stuck on the road or charging station
