His focus seems to be more about his family than anything and he seems to be struggling between devoting time to his family and deciding how much time he'll need to devote to whatever team he ends up with in order to be competitive. A place like JGR would likely just mean a pay cut, in my opinion. A place like Kaulig or RCR would take a lot more devotion from him, in addition to a pay cut, to be competitive.

Agree! On the other side of the coin, he goes to Kaulig, he has clear demands on what he’ll bring to the team. If he goes to a startup, I think his roll shifts to more mentorship rather than wins. Teams like SHR, HMS and RCR, his lifestyle stays the same.

KB is on the other side of his best days, he’s a smart dude. He’ll ensure whatever changes come are within his ability to tolerate.

Mars is leaving so KB doesn't have a ride essentially because he doesn't have a sponsor which can cover his desired salary. The two sides have been in contract negotiations pretty much since Mars said they were leaving. Both sides and Toyota want to come to a deal, it just isn't happening so far.

I think if he goes to an up and coming team, there's no better time than now. Largely spec cars that everyone has little experience with. I think what he wants is a lot of longevity guarantees that sponsors aren't willing to commit to, particularly with his age. Not to mention he wants to devote a lot of time to Brexton's racing career which he can't really do at a team that isn't immediately competitive. I don't think this is all about salary, per se

No problem. Busch has also added that he's willing to race for less money, but I think it comes down to how much it takes to get major sponsors in addition to him wanting long term guarantees for stability for his family and I think they have issues coming together on that, particularly with his age.

I think he's committed to being retired from Xfinity, especially after all the whining from people since he has 102 wins in the series. KBM is more of a passion project for him focused on development and fun. But cup is how he pays his bills and his bread and butter. I think the reason you don't see him pursue a cup ride with KBM (ignoring the charter system) or using Rowdy as a title sponsor is because paying your own way takes a lot away from the income you are making and likely sacrificing the advancement of those businesses since the overhead is much higher too
