Woke up with every intention to work on my kitchen today.

Only thing I did was order my cabinets and swap out one old outlet. Oh and took a 2 hour nap.

Atleast the dog got 2 walks and is nice and tired tonight.

Hmm. Girlfriends chevy transmission is dropping out of gear, shifting later and was a little low on fluid. Is it dead, or is it just resting? Only time will tell!

Eh, tired being relative. Less energetic is more like it.

3.5 miles total plus fetch in the backyard.

The sounds like a job for Lucas trans rebuild in a bottle. Guaranteed to do something, either kill it faster or fix it forever, who knows.

1/2 quart out of 5. It dropped out of gear on the interstate, added half a quart and it made it to my place ok. Not really sure if the 1/2 quart was the issue.

Its brown/black looking, but didn't smell burnt.

hmmm volume wise I'd expect that to be OK but some transmission are more sensitive to the level... Was it acting up on hills or anything where the low fluid could let the pickup suck air? Was any kind of service recently done?

depends on your definition of hills. There are a couple of inclines there, but nothing steep.

No service that i know of. 180,000 miles.

Thinkin I'll probably just change the fluid and filter and send it. Either it'll be good or it won't, and I can start shopping for transmissions in the mean time.

    Yeah. Pretty much.

Give the way its acting, my hunch is there's something up with the valve body. Maybe fresh fluid will help that out, although I might see if there's anything I can do to it while i've got the pan down. Maybe a massage?
