Do any of you guys/gals have the OEM console safe installed in your Gen 3 Tacoma ? If so can you tell me the inside measurements of it please ?

My truck has it. The only dimensions that are accurate from that console vault link is the depth. the opening is 5 1/4" x 4 3/8'' (due to the metal lip that protrudes from the front of the opening that the lock on the safe slides into). The interior is 6 3/8" L/W... maybe just a hair under.

A full size 1911 (Dan Wesson Pointman 45) does not fit inside of it.

Happy with my lockerdown, but it’s a bit squeezy in there. Compact 9mm fits ok, but I haven’t tested a full size. I’ve been meaning to 3D print a slot for it as the magnets are pretty strong and make getting it out quickly a little challenging.

I ordered the regular, but I guess they were having production delays or perhaps supplies. I don’t know. They called to check on my satisfaction when it arrived a few weeks later and told me I had been upgraded to extreme at no cost because of the delays.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

    Great service.

So would you say it's worth it ? The OEM is around $300.

What would you keep in there?

The safe is annoying as fuck. The opening is too small and unless I really wanted to carry a pistol (which I can't because I lost them all in an unfortunate boating accident) it would be super awkward to get in and out.

Why would you carry your pistol in a console safe?

Occasionally, you have to decide between not entering a facility you wanted to go to but it prohibits carry, and going home to secure your weapon and returning. With a locked console, you can store it there for the time being.

What facility would you go to that you would be in long enough that you would need to lock your gun in a tiny console safe? And I’m what area while in said facility would there be a real risk of your car getting broken into and searched? And if you know you are going there why not just leave your gun at home in the first place? If the questions are stupid please excuse me I just can’t think of a real world situation where this product would be needed.

Why do you need door locks on your truck? Just don't leave it anywhere that someone would go through it?

Sorry for a dumb question just trying to understand

That is a dumb question. You need locks on the doors to to keep people from opening them and taking your stuff. Like your gun. I’m actually curious. Your just being an asshole.

Don't leave anything in your truck and you can leave the doors unlocked for curious folks to take a look.

Yeah that’s true but what does that have to do with why you need a tiny console safe?
