What was your method?

 

Let’s just say you can’t in any way weld them , I used super glue

Ok, I see it. Matchbox back end with the HW front end.

I’m a fan of 2-part epoxies and Tamiya putty.

 

I tried epoxy and it didn’t want to stick

 

I figured they were unweldable, but wonder if brazing would work.

I have an S15 and a 180sx I always wanted to make a Sil-eighty for a buddy who has one.

 

I used low temp 350 rod and it didn’t stick

 

Did you preheat the body?

 

Yes , I have a lot of test cars and none worked how I would of liked

 

Well that's unfortunate.

Dunno how well cyanoacrylate will last, if it would cause the paint to crack from different expansion or if it would cause hazing of the blister as I'd like to put it in a custom blister for them.

 

I’ve been watching a couple guys on YouTube, and the guy who makes the best customs uses Starbond (with activator) to set initial attachments and JB Weld to create new details. Then he files, sands, Dremels, and everything else to smooth. When he puts down the primer it looks perfect.

I want to be that good. Practicing on other stuff for repairs, so far so good.

 

I have a friend that has made many custom cars. Some of them made from a few different cars. He uses JB weld on all of them. I have some he has made for me that have held together for years now. Never tried epoxy’s but the do make some really good ones these days. Especially the uv epoxy.

Backgound is a SCX24 C10, week 2 looking to get longer shocks for... who knows why, it is super cool all stock.

Like the Johnny Lightning Rat Fink. They are supposed to be coming out with a Rat Fink VW bug soon. Have some cars I will be posting in a little bit. Been trying to catch up with that dumpster thread going on.
