Any reason why the old, disconnect the battery while running the truck, won’t work on a modern vehicle like this?

I know it’s not a tell-all indication but can point out a (completely) dead alternator.

Because voltage spikes from doing so can easily damage the electronics of the vehicle, never do this on any vehicle it's not even a great idea to do it on an older vehicle with no electronics.

it will work to diagnose the alternator but not good for the modern day electronics. You lose a large filter for AC noise once the battery is disconnected with the alternator running.

Older vehicles didn't care as much about voltage, modern electronics in vehicles are super sensitive to voltage fluctuations even a just weak battery will cause all kinds of issues on a modern vehicle.

Battery light did not come on this morning when I started the truck just now, so
I think that means I'm safe until Thursday...

Hey Charlie, does your gas cap say to turn it until it clicks?

    And do you?

Sometime mine clicks easy. Other times it hard to get it to click?

Anyone else turn it until it clicks?

That’s a mint Blazer. My brother has one (not mint) and it has been a lot of fun (8.1L, 4L80, 1 ton axles, 40-42’s).

I tagged you because you're veterans and we have run into problem with some bureaucratic bullshit regarding Jim's service. He was in the Navy, but while I am not sure he was actually in the reserves or not, he was in for like four or five years and is considered a reservist. As such, the veterans cemetery won't take him, and Helen is also having to spend several hundred dollars on death certificates because Jim is no longer deemed eligible for the twenty free ones. I did not know this until the day after Jim died, but for example, Helen needs a death certificate to put the title of Jim's Ridgeline in her name and another to remove Jim's name from the deeds to their home and two rental properties. The list goes on and on, and that's why it is several hundred dollars. Just another way for the government to make more money, I guess...

Anyway, would anybody know if Helen has an recourse with regards to getting Jim's ashes interred at the veterans cemetery?

Maybe mine has a spot where it tighter at one of the click points?

I can’t say I even knew you were supposed to twist until it clicks until my father pointed it out on his truck.

I was like, What? Never heard of that???

Sure enough my truck has the same warning. Twist until it clicks.

Was it active duty time? Or all reservist time?

Well had to look at min and same , 1 click and I can run up to 10 percent ethanol , go figure. I think my normal 87 octane pump gas can add some ethanol.
