I remember my kids favorite joke at that age was

    Knock, knock

    Who's there?

    Alligator

    Alligator who?

    Alligator butt.

Didn't make sense, but if you put the word 'butt' in the joke, it was funny

Good afternoon everyone, on what is another good summer day in the northlands of Michigan.

So..... need some "sort of great uncle" parenting advice here... we never had kids and have lived vicariously through other people's kids. I was hanging out with a grand niece - or step grand niece once or twice removed by marriage / divorce / blended family kind of thing (no clue how one actually charts a family tree in the modern age - and it really doesn't matter).

Anyway, we were at the store to pick up some school supplies for her and groceries to make grilled hotdogs for dinner (her choice). I always park as far away from other cars as possible to avoid door dings, shopping carts that are launched like a missle from across the parking lot, etc. When we came out of the store, about two parking spaces down from me at the end of the parking lot was a guy sitting in a massive Ford F350 dualie rig that was was modded-up enough it could be it's own float in a parade. It was clear that truck never sees a day of "work".

Anyways.. we're walking back to my Taco past the monster truck and my grand niece who is about 12 or 13, says loudly enough for the guy sitting in his truck with the window down, "sorry about your penis" and goes on like she said nothing... And, yes he heard it - his head snapped around like it was on a bungee cord. I know as an "adult" I should have addressed the situation with her, about how we don't say things like that, etc., but in the moment, if I had opened my mouth or made eye contact with either my niece or the guy in the truck, I would have completely lost it with unstoppable laughter. All the way home she acted like nothing happened - it was all I could do not to bust out laughing until we got home...

As a pseudo-parental / elder uncle figure... what should I have done in this situation... (other than high-five her and be both amazed and concerned that she gets that kind of reference...)

I would have told her that it wasn't nice to do...but it was funny.

Good part about not being the parent is you don't have to lecture. But as an adult, you could have gotten into a fight because of her.

Nascar Cup cars , road course and rain showers make for a very boring time watching on TV . The race started at 2pm and have only run about 20 caution laps

What gets me is the cars have wipers , rain tires and window defroster so the cars are more than capable to race at competition speeds

Gerd afternoon peeps. ( and peep-ets?) I got minimal work done on the deck, I cut the 4th stair stringer and coated all of the cut ends with a solid pigment stain. Just a FYI- sherwin-williams offers Vets/ active duty members 15% off on any purchase. I just found out about it when I was in there trying to find some of the copper paint to coat the cut ends and they had no idea what I was talking about, even after showing them a pic of the product. I just screw it and got some Navajo White colored solid pigment to color the stringers and the railing spindles when I get to that point, everything else will be the Cedar colored solid stain.

I went to a crab feast with the GF, she has never had steamed crabs, they gross her out although she offered to be a sport and learn how to take one apart and extract the meat. I thought that she was going to loose it a few times, but at least it was a distraction from losing the orange fur ball last week. I'm still crying about that.

I saw this sticker on the FB and immediately thought about all of the folks in our group that earn a living fixing other peoples problems.

While at the box store buying routing through the pile of 2x8's, trying to find a decent one, I stumbled across this gem. I guess that there isn't much QC at the saw mils anymore?

yeah, that's perfectly fine to use as a joist...

    Good evening all
I'm home from weekend of camping, trail riding and general shenanigans in Northern Wisconsin. Had a real good time with the WI TW folks and one guy from Illinois.

We had no ticks or mosquitoes this weekend.

    Do you deliver?
Could of used 11 sandwiches on Saturday.

Thank you Rob. Trip was about 4 hours and we've arrived to discolor another fine property. LOL. Not a half mil but the next door neighbor is asking $649 for his. LMAO.
We're blessed to be able to driveway hop to some fine homes. Thanks to a Senior Nurse with Mercy hospital for this space tonight. He's a great BIL.
