Fingers crossed it’s just the subfloor
The fix in this case would be pull the deck boards against the house then bend some metal or “peel and stick” flashing (something like this https://www.lowes.com/pd/TITE-SEAL-...VBITICh1iiwCyEAQYASABEgLqVfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds ) that will tuck up under the siding, cut and adhere to subfloor under door threshold , then run down and cap the deck ledger. Do this the entire length of the deck/house connection. Use lots of 100% silicone when putting the door back in

Well the deck joists seem to be ok, but I already know I need to take it down to fix the rot.

Yeah I fear this is past my expertise and hoping a contractor could spend a day with me to at least fix the rot and I can finish the door install...I'll keep you all updated. Thanks for the quick feedback!

I was referring to the joists that are part of your house’s flooring system. Good call on getting a contractor to look at it :)

Woke up with every intention to work on my kitchen today.

Only thing I did was order my cabinets and swap out one old outlet. Oh and took a 2 hour nap.

Atleast the dog got 2 walks and is nice and tired tonight.

Besides that, if 10 cabinets from the homedepot brand cost me $2900, Id hate to know what it would cost to go with something more custom. The times we live in...

4 angle stops and a shower head and arm. The POS house is 0.001% less crappy now. And some side biz work and organizing my workspace. Long way to go there. Also we bought some crazy spendy washer dryer stuff. Now I get to convert the 240V receptacle.

Best of luck! Agreed that getting another set of eyes on it is a good idea.

I've run into a handful of places with similar rot as this at my place. Water sure is tricky!

When you have stuff you don’t need, clean it up. Phone lines will be left in place inside, but if needed again there will be a single line coming in and the box will be inside the garage.

The guy teaching my energy star rater course kept referring to water as promiscuous, he might’ve had a few screws loose tho

I really need to do this.

Especially with my coax but I know very little about it.

I would like to have 1 line in going directly to my router and that's it.

I have absolutely no interest in cable or anything else in other rooms and everything is moving to wireless anyways so no point in T junctions and splitters and couplers and and and...

Is it really just as simple as going into the attic crawlspace and ripping up wires?

How do I know which one is the main line in?

I think he is right on, that is a brilliant analogy.

Water damage is probably the #1 issue for any building and often by the time you realize there is a problem there is a giant amount of hidden damage.

Usually the internet provider has run a direct line from the interface on the side of the house to the router.
Identify that line and then feel free to remove the rest.

Sounds like that's going to be my method.

There's a line in the master bedroom that comes out of a hole drilled in a blank switch plate, plugs into a coupler then goes back into another hole drilled in the blank.

Not sure what that's about but it's the same white that's coming out of the wall down the line and plugs into the router, was assuming it was all one setup but again the ancient technology that is Coax is a bit beyond me.

How do I identify what's the phone box and what's the cable box etc?

Also I'm not going to damage anything or myself removing phone lines eh?

I don't even know if they're functional anymore.

Call your internet provider. They can come out and tell you what’s what, check your signals, and may even upgrade your coax if needed. We’ve had it done free of charge. Our phone line is now through the cable, not the old phone lines. That’s why that box and the cables were removed. Looks a lot better and less wiring to hide under the new siding.

Do you still have a land line phone?

Usually phone wire is small, about 1/4" round and generally gray, sometimes flat.
On the side of your house there will be a couple of plastic boxes, the phone box will probably be the oldest looking one, usually they have "telephone service" or something similar cast right in the plastic. It might be a 2 compartment box and say "network interface" or something similar.
Phone equipment is low voltage so only a minor zap if at all.

That was my expectation, I do not have a land line, nor do I know anyone with one, least not in this country, but there are some land line RJ11 jacks in the house, the kitchen, the one from the game room I removed, cut the wires taped and stuffed them in the wall, and I think one in the master, I could do without them all.

I also need to remove the what I think is door bell wires that looked ripped and were knotted and hanging out of a hole in the wall near the ceiling.

It was actually like that when I first toured the house so I don't blame the previous owner I got it from.

While up there I'd like to run 12 or even 10 gauge romex to the game room and up the breaker size as I am pulling at least 10+ amps constant on that circuit when everything is going hard though usually closer to 7.

Kinda waiting for winter though, don't really want to be working hard in the attic in Florida 100% humidity and 100°F summer weather.

And summer starts in March and isn't over till November here.

    :annoyed:
