Well, I cannot tell a lie. Crap, that's wrong, when I was young, the priest said I could lie my ass off as long as I went to confession and dropped an envelope in the cash basket, but that a bit off the subject. Truth is, I did write it myself... Additionally, I got straight A's in Creative Writing class; Cheers!

I picked up an oscillating sprinkler from Target a while back - could probably find similar at most big box or hardware stores.

It's the first thing I do before power washing - helps to get the bulk of stuff off. Just reposition at various points and good to go.

Wasn't he saying: at this point, if we head down 2053, maybe we can run down a couple of UTV's...or at least splash them with mud?

    Sorry, couldn't help myself...

Just got back from up nort a little while ago. Very glad I was able to join in on another trip! Good times around the fire with many of the usuals and some hopefully “future usuals”, and great time touring the forest.

I’m still super appreciative of all the folks who have shown me that cruising around the NF is even a thing you can do. I’ve gone up to that area a few times on my own to explore only because of what I’ve learned here with how to read the MVUM maps, and the various apps. Im a guy that’s generally disliked GPS screens, but yet this weekend, I found myself with two phones hanging off my dash running avenza at the same time lol (ok, for a timelne phone was recording a certain Land Cruiser lol). I actually pinch myself knowing so much of the forest is open to explore in this way.

I think the folks up there must know what they have is something special. Considering the amount use the trails and roads get from the variety of different vehicles….the five or so times Ive been up there, the NF roads and trails never look abused (except by weather). It’s also cool to see the atv clubs have lots of visibility, and signage encouraging responsible use. For someone living in a more populated area, I find it amazing that you can go to a place, using a daily driver 4x4, and find places to sit and just listen to the wind flow through then trees…and nothing else.

When it was time to air up again this afternoon, not gonna lie, it felt bittersweet. So I didn’t air up…instead convinced @Thatbassguy to join me for old fashions, bluegill and perch at the Hillcrest in Townsend. That place doesnt dissapoint. Then I felt a little better about airing up…:D

Now I feel a little bad about my swift departure. Well, not all bad, but it was still a great day.

    Your post was perfect Tim.
We went through something similar before because I used the word “Pipeline” displaying photos of our trip. I know every time we went on our runs it was usually the UTVs driving crazy. We always slide over and give space or completely stop.

Yes, all the way up the hill this time which worked out much better. That hole on the right side is just a little too deep so end up sitting on the transfer case skid which unloads the tires. Need more clearence..... 35's

Crew-I need some help. So last week when I was out messing around looking for routes I encountered a problem that I am hoping you can speak to.

So, I found a road... and it went the right direction and wasn't too scratchy-absolutely perfect. Unfortunately, it ended at a logging landing. Oh well, I back tracked and came upon a guy in a truck working on the road I was using. We talked and come to find he owned the 80 acres adjacent to the road (I saw his drive way/road that was posted and stayed out.) He invited me onto his property and explained a way through across the Little Sioux River. So, I explored down his 80. At the river I came to a road (his words.) This road was marked as a snowmobile trail-#31. Looking at the Bayfield snowmobile map PDF I can see that in fact it is a marked snowmobile route. I used a section of this to get back to a marked road, and it was gated at the end requiring some squirming to get out. So here is my question: This is State Forest land, and the route is an old road. Is it legal for 4x4 use? Who would I contact to get permission to open the gate? The ATV crowd has been using the trail and made a get around, but I don't like that as it is definitely unsanctioned. Makes me frustrated that the winter use guys get to block off access to State lands... Ideas?

I just called the Forest service Headquarters Office in Rhinlander - (715) 362-1300.
He told me that if there's a gate, it's closed to vehicles.
He said the best option is to call the local office at (715) 373-2667 because those guys would have better local area knowledge.
He also gave me the visitor center number which he said would also be quite helpful. (715) 685-9983

I saw a post once that said if the road has a berm or gate, it's not open to us, if not, it's available. This guy extended that statement to say that there might be signs that indicate the area is closed to certain vehicles.
He did say however that the NVUM maps are accurate and if it's open on the map, we can go there with no uncertainty.

I think what @Supr4Lo meant to say is that he needs a front locker. Might as well regear and go 35's right away. :notsure:

Thanks! This road is on State/County property so no MUVM. I will call Bayfield county and see what they have to say. My guess is no go.
