My AutoZone alternator is running on borrowed time, I don't know where my trickle charger is, and I don't feel like tearing apart the garage to look for it, so my supervisor let me borrow this from work...

 

I will be keeping the truck plugged in overnight and whenever it sits for more than a few hours, to keep the battery juiced up; Pete is installing the new Denso alternator on Thursday morning...

 

Schumacher has been around for ever. They make good chargers. You’ll be just fine with that one.

You should make it until Thursday, the Denso is a better choice than the junk from the parts store.

 

I was in a sticky situation. My mechanic is regularly swamped and my truck would have been unusable for several days, and I seriously didn't think the bastard would fail in 8 months!

 

I vaguely recall your neighbor helping you install that one, unfortunately I didnt think it would last beyond 1 year.

 

That was my friend Dave, who used to be mechanic (now he drives an 18-wheeler and loves it), and wanted to me to drive the truck up to him but was kind enough to drive down to me when I didn't think my truck could make it to his house...

 

This thing fully recharged my battery in a couple of hours, and my parents don't want me to leave it hooked up all night, so I made them promise to buy me a new battery if this one gets cratered by the failing alternator. I plan on keeping the battery charger hooked up at all times while it's parked in driveway, until the alternator gets replaced on Thursday...

 

I fired up the truck before going back inside, so I'm hopeful, but I've a promise from my mom to buy me a new Optima Yellow Top if this one gets ruined...
