I didn't see any promotions or anything, just happened to be tire shopping at the right time.

There's a lot of reading to do here, and i'm going to get flamed for this. I have a '22 TRD OR MT, and i love the look of all these tires. It seems like the move is to switch to 17" rims, but at stock height, is there a chart or something to help with getting the correct size if I wanted a 255/x/17 tire? I live in NY so i'm not doing any real off-roading, besides the occasional dirt road. I could consider a 1" body lift to get better fitment if you think it's necessary. Wondering what others at stock height with a gen 3 and 17" rims did...

Just got an email notification that Giga Tire cancelled my order and is processing my refund.

Oh well it was worth a shot.

Could take a screenshot of the price and see if discount tire will match it

One thing most people dont mention when trying to fit tires at stock height is that wheel offset is key. Stick with +25 like stock and it seems like it will fit. At 0 offset there is no way a 255 80 17 will fit without clearancing at least the pinch weld but I did the cab mount too.

It looks like this may have been an error on Gigatires part as the listing no longer exists, however the tires are still available. We would not be able to offer a price match to this. With this said there are currently less than 5 sets of these tires left in the country so if someone is considering the Yokohama G003 option in the 255/85R16 size, you may want to consider purchasing soon.

This may have already been asked, but I don't remember reading anything on this. I currently am running 265x75r-16s, and even with airing down and a 2.5" shocks that are tuned to my vehicle relatively well, roads consisting of embedded cobbles (say 3" to 6" rocks) are just plain rough going. It would appear that I need to upsize my tires if I want to improve the situation. Would upsizing to a 255x80r-17 make a difference, or do I need to go to 35s to see an appreciable difference?

how far are you airing down?
also 3-6" size rocks are going to be felt on most vehicles unless you are big tire running single digit air pressures and going slow.
I go down into the teens on my 33s and still feel rocks 6" in diameter if I am going any more than a crawl

20 psi on SL rated tires. Don't feel comfortable going less than that with the more flexible side wall. Maybe 6" is a bit of an overestimate on size, but if that size cobble is embedded, only some 3 inches might be sticking up. I guess what I meant to describe was rocky roads that are maintained with a grader, but no gravel surfacing is put down. I feel my suspension does a relatively good job handling whoops, cross drainage cuts, and potholes, but driving on cobble just shakes the hell out of my truck. I realize that ideally you are running 40s for this sort of surfacing, and 33s will not be ideal, but the hope of going a bit larger would make things less jarring. Just wondering if an E rated 255x85 that is 1" larger is going to provide any improvement.

I ran 255/85/16’s on my stock 18 OR MT. Worked great.

Got it. Makes sense, but wanted to verify. So 285s with potential cmc (I do have SPCs) is the only way to smooth out the ride a bit more.

It's less about the tire size and more about the specific tire design and construction. Your SL rated tires are soft compared to an E rated "LT" tire. That's just a general rule and you'll find large variation in ride quality from tire brand to brand and model to model.

If you swapped to 285/75R16 with an E rating then they'll almost certainly have a more harsh ride than your current SL rated tires.

I don't think adding a tiny bit of sidewall (31.5" vs 33" tire) isn't going to make a significant difference in ride quality. Softer vs stiffer tires will make a difference and you may just have the wrong suspension for your needs. "Tuned for your vehicle" doesn't really mean much. Different suspension systems work differently under different conditions. Tuning them for the vehicle is one thing but tuning them for the terrain is a whole other thing.

Like someone else mentioned, with 3-6" rocks I think you're just kinda SOL. That's probably gonna be a rough ride regardless unless you do some massive suspension mods or massive tires with very low PSI.

I currently have the stock OR tires in my 22 265/70/16. I am debating going up to 265/75/16 or 255/80/16. How do the 255s compare in width to my stock tire. I don’t really want to go much narrower than what I already have but would like a taller tire. Don’t think I’ve ever seen this size in person. Any info or comparisons is greatly appreciated
