Mine went in a week ago today, and Friday they sent me a list totalling approximately $7000.00 , of repairs. My boyfriend and his son are both mechanics who know my truck well. Chris urged me to ask if they were going to replace the brake lines when they replaced the frame... they are not, unless I wish to pay the dealership's inflated price....
Several other Tacoma owners feel as I do that the dealership comes up with these inflated, and not always necessary repairs, in order to make more money off the process.

I've got a call in to Toyota, and they are going to have someone, a customer care specialist call me back. And meanwhile I found a post on torque news, by someone a few years ago, and the brake lines were included!
Prime IRA Toyota in Saco Maine is where the truck is now.....

I had my 2010 replaced last summer. Included as part of it was the brake lines (at least the metal, not sure about the front flex ones), LCAs, rear leafs. I requested and purchased new shocks and springs as I knew they were original.

IIRC they also replace the coolant.

Well you can't really blame the dealership for asking. They'd put it back together like new if you asked them (and paid enough.) I'd let them put it back together with everything Toyota is paying for.. that way when you get it back and something doesn't work correctly it'll be between the dealership and corporate to figure it out (not between your approved updates and the dealership.) Replace only what is broken or absolutely necessary.

Once you have the new frame and are a happy camper your mechanic friends should be able to replace anything needed, right? ;)

Asking, true. Though the brake lines are part of the campaign and from what @waterwoman100 says they're trying to not do them unless she pays.

What exactly is on the $7000 list?? Did you specifically ask about the hard lines? Maybe they assumed you meant the soft lines if the hard lines are already included, maybe it just wasnt communicated well.

7 grand for soft lines..no possible way...Im guessing, fuel lines, ALL and EVERY piece of rubber under the truck, springs, coil overs, filler neck tube...sounds like theyre trying to soak you for a bunch of stuff you most likely dont NEED...

Or perhaps they're playing dumb/unaware that the campaign includes the metal brake lines.

perhaps rabbit...perhaps...and also trying to soak her for everything else! Did the dealer not give you what is covered under the frame replacement agreement? Im thinking brake lines were included (as others have said), but Ive never seen what they include written down...

Again, you are jumping to conclusions about what the dealer is covering and what they are not. Im not trying to defend the dealer per se. But any unprotected vehicle from 2011 that spent its life in Maine is going to need some work when you dive into it as deep as a frame replacement.

Its all speculation (useless) until we see an itemized list totaling $7k.

Definitely can confirm metal brake lines are included, source is my 2010 last summer

True or perhaps we're not getting the specific re metal versus rubber lines.

Depends on the particular vehicle too as you mentioned. The dealer that did mine is one that we've had a good relationship with and trust in. They didn't have any recommendations for replacement on mine which has lived in MA its entire life. I'm guessing they might have suggested the shocks/springs but I had said right off the bat I wanted those replaced.

@waterwoman100 if you really reach an impasse with this one, it would be a little bit away but I can give you the name of the dealer that did mine.

Very well possible. Plus we don't know the mileage on the vehicle so might be stuff upcoming anyways. Mine had 117K going in.

Of course it all depends on the specific repair(s). My example, I would have been a fool not to do the shocks then as it was free labour. A friend of mine had a couple of things replaced such as water pump because most of the "getting to it" part of the job was already being done.

I forget what mine was, but I asked for the exact same thing (Toyota OEM) that was already on the truck. I didn't mind spending a little more markup etc versus aftermarket since the originals lasted almost 12 years and I'm sure these will get me about that.

And definitely re the labour. Mine was a zero charge. Plus they were still footing the bill for my rental :)

^This 100%. Not trying to be an A-hole, but there is little-to-no context or details in OP's original post. I know folks here want to help, but until we know more I'd reserve the speculation & conjecture as it may just lead to more confusion and misinformation instead of being constructive as intended.

OP, help us, to help you...

I’d go ahead and do the rack and pinion. OEM rack is the best.
So I’d likely pay for that one out of pocket. That job isn’t any fun.
