    @theesotericone

If you run the trail that ends up going down Voyager, you're also going down Thompson, correct?

Lmao... Oh, I didn't get stuck.

My front leaf bolt decided it didn't want to do it's job any more.

You talking about Chicken Rock? It's the start of the trail if you run from the Courtright side. That's S to N. If you run it North to South you'll be going down both Thompson and Chicken. The rock garden that starts the N to S side is no joke either but it is easier then Thompson.

a whole bunch of ITR & OTR, LBJs, a couple axles. Those are most likely things to break.
Spare bolts of various length and size (LBJ bolts forsure)
Spare spindles and spare steering rack if you're really trying to get after it.
And of course all of the fluids

    Haha. New rig thing!

My dad broke both front main leafs on his FJ60 and a bolt holding his heim joint together on his drag link last year.

He’s also broken a pitman arm on the same rig on the Dusy a few years ago… Apparently anything can break!

Can and will. I've seen some impressive damage on both IFS and SA rigs. When you play in the big rocks those forces are far greater then anything manufacturers designed for. We do indeed pay to play.

    How does this itinerary sound?

Mon - Camp at base of Voyager (Chicken) rock
Tues - Camp at the base of Thompson Hill
Wed - Camp at Summit Lake
Thurs - Camp at Ershim Lake - Lakecamp Lake if we've made good time
    Fri - Drive out

So we typically leave Sonora early and make it to the top of Thompson on day one. I think if you camp at the base of chicken rock (which basically the backside of courtright reservoir) you could make it to the camp spot at the top of Thompson hill.

From there the trail isn’t as hard but it’s relentless and we usually make it to Ershim lake on day two. Ershim is a great alpine lake and we usually spend a whole day at camp. So night two and night three. Then wheel out and drive home day four.

Now that being the case East Lake is about halfway between the top of Thompson and Ershim lake and although I’ve never camped there it is another really cool lake and is typically warmer then the other lakes due to how shallow it is. I’ve also seen some good sized fish pulled out of it.

I really don’t think there is a bad way to do the trail. It’s a really really cool trail.

Hellllo. Any trail run for Labor Day weekend? How do you guys usually gather for a run? Private chats/Instagram or what? I missed a lot of actions since my last trip with TW crew.

There's a list of sites that campfires are permitted at in the PDF, but none of the sites at Bowman or Sawmill fall into that category.

pretty sure theres an active fire restriction right now and since bowman is all dispersed camping, you'll want to bring a propane fire pit and make sure you have your CA Fire Permit for your stove and pit.
