    How far down the rabbit hole of projects do you want to go? I have an Arisaka Type 38 laying around- it's a lot of custom work to rebarrel it, but Arisaka actions are legendary for their metallurgy and all around durability.

    It's an odd gun- its (original WWII) barrel is shot out, the stock has been chopped/sporterized, but the imperial chrysanthemum flower stamp is still intact which means it was a battlefield pickup.
