Fitting 35’s with minimal trimming NOW ADDING LONG TRAVEL AND 934 CV’s

Finished up the Inner Fenders, Howe pump and UMP filter a few months ago....very happy with the results. As always, top notch engineering, fabrication and support from JD Fab! Big thanks to Harry for answering all my questions and TIG welding a sweet AL intake tube for the UMP. Also thanks to all you guys for the shared knowledge on this thread.






After the new mods, 37s fit nicely!

 

What spanned wrench are you guys using for the upper ball joints? Mine have some play in them I’ve noticed after chasing down a clunk. For reference I’m stock length JD uppers.

@81Trekker are you still contemplating making a cage “kit”? Really like the idea of an exo cage since I still have glass and would like to bounce off trees, but I know an interior cage could offer a lot more protection being a double cab. Not to mention you guys making it vs me with no cage experience. Maybe some hybrid of both. No idea. Just don’t want to die yet if it could be avoided.

 

Oh, he will totally do it. Send him your truck, he will build a kit and install it in the process.

Yeah rev limiter double locked on playground at Chocco changed my outlook on things when it caught grip and put me almost sideways haha it’s a nasty long way down to roll

 

I saw the direction this build was going so i was like it only makes sense haha

 

Once the cat’s out of the bag it’s hard to get him back in haha I’m torn between building this out or buying an aborted bouncer or buggy next year.

Yeah, they held up great with the front unloaded like that. Rev limiter, front locked, turning swampers lock to lock going in and out of traction. Can’t ask for more than that from IFS

 

Do they have to be popped out of the arm to snug them up? I was always under the impression the EMF's had a set screw in the side. I have one that has a very slight amount of play as well.

 

I read they had a tolerance that made a slight amount of play and they state to grease it up and it should snug it.

 

But really, is the cage kit happening or no? That’s next on the list.

 

My guess would be no. Pick up bendtech and a good bender and go to town. Thats my winter project. Seats, harnesses and cage. It's really not a terrible learning curve. Pick up a couple of sticks of exhaust tubing (super cheap) to learn the bender before you start with the expensive stuff.

 

Yes it will definitely happen, currently working on the complete 4 link solution, 4Runner/FJ everything, complete frame stiffen kit and then cage
