I've been offered a 2010 regular cab Tacoma with the 2TR-FE, 5-speed manual transmission, 125k miles, at a decent price ($14k). I've got to decide today.

Here is my question. I've also got a 2007 4Runner with the Locking Torsen center differential. I really like how the Torsen works, giving me good all wheel drive mode in snowy and mixed conditions plus true 4 wheel drive once I lock it up. Remember, this is the center differential.

Question 1 - Is it possible to swap the Locking Torsen center differential from a 4Runner (or any other type of Locking Torsen) into the 2010 Tacoma?

Question 2 - What is the current recomendation for front and rear locking diffs on the 2010 Tacoma? Truetrac front and rear?

    I really appreciate any comments.

The 2010 sounds good. But still check kbb.com, put in all the info, it'll give you the value.

    The other stuff I dunno.

I don’t know the answers to your question.
But are you sure your looking at the right truck with all the mods you are wanting to do?

I’d maybe look for an Access Cab Off-Road. That way you all you need to do is add a front locker.
And if you really a want to make it better, swap in a Transfer Case from an FJ Cruiser.

5-lug or 6-lug? Sport or Offroad? 4WD? You are not giving much info on the tacoma to know if it's worth the asking price.
Unless you are set on a single cab, I would choose a Tacoma with the 4.0 engine over that 2.7. You will be disappointed with the lack of power if you ever decided to upgrade larger tires or add more weight.

If a rust belt truck, look at the frame.
