First, link the source so I can pick apart their dishonesty. Two, that's not nothing. That's $973,000,000. Three, it was probably that low for very good reasons:

    https://www.nationalreview.com/2019/04/amazon-pays-billions-corporate-taxes/

This example does not conform to your description. Try again.

Hold on, I have to stand up so I can get a full big laugh out of that.

Source: Washington post. You can google it. I don't wanna link the article cause politics rule. Search: Bezos taxes Washington Post

If bezos has an effective tax rate of 1%, then I should have an effective tax rate of 1%. That's only fair I think.

Also, you need to stop referencing the national review, it's heavily biased.

And I'm well aware that my WAPO article is biased towards bezos

JAndrews is trying to convince everyone that giant corporations and billionaires are essential for the success and freedom of the average citizen, and I'm politely disagreeing. Also shopping for a nice pair of boots for him for Christmas. Trying to find the tastiest flavor of leather.

973 million on 4.2 billion in income is a tax rate over 20%.

You ever consider the reason I don't have your worries is because I'm not beholden to the 'oppressors' you imagine are victimizing you?

You completely missed the part where it said "While his wealth grew $99B"

I don't have any worries at all, my life is quite comfortable. I just see a flawed system for what it is. You're happy to remain constrained within it. I'd like to see it change.

Marx and Engels still wrote a book about it. Come to think of it @kairo has written the equivalent of a VERY large book about it. Maybe he should publish? lol

Your tax rate on unrealized capital gains is 0.0% just like his. Fairs fair right?

I don't know if I could publish it with enough small words to make it legible for the broader public.

You realize of course, that's exactly how the wealthy exploit the system? Using assets as collateral for loans. Elon only got involved in his twitter mess to offload some shares cause he needed cash for whatever reason and needed to keep TSLA up. He will pay a reasonable amount on those. Something like $9b I think. But that's not SOP for billionaires unless they're positioning to do something else.

So you want a wealth tax?
You want to be taxed on unrealized gains?
You want to be taxed on the increased value of your home while you're still living in it?

Or do you just want evil rich people to be taxed that way?
Income tax is very cleverly named because it's a tax on income.

Nope, nope, and nope. I want to figure out a system where 7 people don't control over half of the worlds resources, that's all. There's no need for someone to control $100b in assets or a corporation to control $10t in assets. That's not a free and fair market, that's an oligarchy.
