Man your arguments start off so strong and then skip to toeing the line between realist and heartless jerk so fast

Yeah, on the high side our intelligence has grown way faster than our morals. Always been a problem in about half the smart people ever, no surprise if that keeps on or gets worse even

Excessive building codes are keeping young people out of houses? Of course! Why didn't I think of that?! If we just built houses that collapsed in 3 years and killed the occupants they'd most definitely be affordable.

I don't think there's any line-toeing. Half of it is heartless jerk, because economic reality is amoral and apathetic.

I don't shy away from it because I don't believe it's possible to improve situations or solve problems unless you define them accurately and honestly.

The culture in the US, especially currently, is going to have a very hard time with the concept of "Your intelligence determines the majority of your economic worth, and it's going to be somewhere between your parents' intelligence and the average."(Research shows the r2-value of child IQ and parental IQ is about 0.6)

But that is increasingly, inarguably, what the science shows.

Until it accepted that this is immutable and the system will have to be altered in response to it, I don't see how progress gets made on solutions.

ayyy, lucky for us we already won, right? High five! It's imperative that we perpetuate this cycle. We got ours, and nobody else should get anything, and we definitely should not advocate to change the system. I'm glad we're on the same page. Fuck the poors, right? Useless freeloaders. Lol, get an education, janitors.

That looks fantastic. Nice smoke ring on the meat. I'm doing a poor-folk spam and baked beans casserole because that's the limit of my cooking ability.

I would have done thinly sliced fried potatoes instead of rice, because if you're gonna go hard, get all the starch in there.

Best baked beans I ever had in my life were at the barbecue restaurant I went to in St. Louis. Adam’s Smokehouse. Apparently they use their pork that smoked and then smoked the beans. Unreal!

I was short a can of baked beans, but I needed some comfort food from grandma back in the 80s

Yea cause the new houses these days are soooooo much better than victorian era balloon frames with brick nogging (the roofs were shit then but they were the peak light wood frame imo) and mid century ranches are falling down everywhere, totally not the hottest house type on the market anywhere they're standing /s
Ya'll were arguing partly about why it's harder to get a house, and construction and the rules around it are one of the biggest things that have changed

Agreed. We should get rid of all the building codes and permits. That'll make houses both cheap and most definitely safer.
